My surgeon said it was one of the most severe cases of tongue tie he had ever seen and he was shocked no one had ever caught it. He was shocked that I was able to speak so plainly. I went to him because I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea. After my surgery my sleep apnea was gone.

I believe you! Happened to my colleague too at 32. It’s a much bigger surgery when you’re an adult! Both my girls were tongue tied when born (70/80%) so glad I had them revised early on as it helped so much with feeding! It was never a thing when we were kids bcos doctors weren’t looking for it?!

My mother is a nurse and she was so horrified that she missed it.

But she said it made sense because I always made a strange gulping noise when I swallowed

I had sleep apnea I couldn’t breathe or swallow properly.

All I know is now I don’t have to use a cpap anymore

Do you do any therapy before or after??? I have toyed with getting it done as I also have sleep apnea and swallowing issues. It’s funny I thought everyone’s tongue sat at the bottom of mouth. My baby girl was also born with a mild one that we had taking care of at 3 weeks

My husband's grandma was told at 80 she had a severe tongue tie and she says that it explained a bunch of issues throughout her life. But she's so old and has survived with it for this long that they wouldn't release it
