Jeez this is tough! My daughter will not sleep and is writhing in pain. Sleeping on me but wakes up crying if we put her down in pain but we cannot get the gas out. Any ideas? X

Have you tried infacol? It really helped with my first. Gave it at the start of each feed for the first few months, but was able to stop once he was moving more and there was less gas trapping. Apart from that it was lots of belly rubbing, positioning changes, upright and back tub after feeds.
My newborn doesn't struggle as much as my oldest did. I think luck can play a role. Look at avoiding causes of trapped air such as poor latch or choking with fast flow.
Avoid her getting to the point of crying before the feed, or calm her down before, otherwise she'll likely swallow more air trying to latch on.
Is your daughter breast or bottle fed? If bottle, definitely make sure you are using an anticolic bottle. If she is choking or spitting up during feds, try a slower teat or using different feeding positions such as side feeding to slow the flow. She will swallow less air that way.
If breast fed, consider laid back feeding to slow flow down, or express a small amount before letting her latch on.
Good luck xx
thank you! I’m breastfeeding - my older daughter was more colicky but this is just awful gas that won’t shift. We started infacol yeayerdya - how long does it take to kick in? Good ideas about pre feed crying too. She isn’t spotting up xx

Aw my baby girl had this problem. It’s crippling and exhausting but I’m 3 days on the other side… so I hope this helps:
- Feed sitting up as much as possible (I position her latched slightly more to the side)
- Burp between feeding sessions not just afterwards
- Burp in 2 positions:
First over knees at a slight angle. Bum/feet on right leg, chest/arms leaned against left leg and rub circular motion
Second on chest completely upright and rub lower back with more pressure when going wards
- Hopefully she will burp at this point
- Then hold her upright for around 10 minutes (or longer if possible) before laying down
I noticed with my baby that if she doesn’t burp in one position, she will usually burp while transitioning to the next position, so I switch between both if it’s a difficult one to get out.
Really hope this helps and you get some sleep x
