Changing table

My partner mother informed him you no longer require a changing table and just need a mat on the sofa or bed or floor is this true at 6 months baby age . Appreciate views

It's up to you. Change your baby wherever you feel comfortable.
We used one until my son was too tall for it.

I got a table for my first. Never used it once as it was in her bedroom and I wasn’t going there to change her every time.
Changing mat on the floor or couch however if you have a section not the best idea to twist or go down on floor. My friend just had hers on the dining room table in the kitchen

You can inform your partner's mother that opinions are not facts

You do what makes you comfortable

We still use ours and he is over 2yo. It is easier for us and our old backs.

She can change all diapers on the couch if she wants

Never brought a changing table i have a changing mat where I can change my little one n the floor, sofa or bed, my fear was with buying one is when they start rolling or when they get heavier putting them up on it and in my opinion I think there waste of money same as if you get a bath or a stand

Avatar

I think we stopped using changing table at 1ish year, he was just rolling around, so i was terrified of him falling 🫣
It’s your choice what works for you best 😊 you can tell you MIL to use coach when she changes the diaper 😉

It's totally up to you. We prefer changing table to save our backs at any age!

It’s completely whatever you want. We never liked changing him on the sofa / bed because of the potential of wee going everywhere haha also we have a dog so the floor was out of the question. Pluuuus I had a section so early on the table really helped and I think it means he knows what’s coming too in terms of routine. But yeah totally your call x

I’ve personally never used my charging table, I did mat on bed or floor since birth. Worked for us.

Avatar

we have used a solid changing pad on top of baby’s dresser for every change at home so far (3+ months)

Avatar

Once my baby started rolling a lot I felt safer changing him with a mat on the floor instead of a changing table so he couldn’t fall or try to roll off. Now he’s one I change him standing up

Avatar

It's true that you can put a mat down but a changing table is more secure and sanitary

Avatar

Nobody ever NEEDED a changing table, doesn't make any difference. If anything a mat on the floor is safer

Avatar

We still use it at 14 months for every change whilst we're at home

My back couldn't take it. We tried changing on a mat on the bed, on the floor. My husband likes those options but my back said no. Plus some of the bowel movements travel so we set the changing table up in our bathroom which is a lot easier to clean when poop becomes a projectile than the carpeted floor in the nursery.

We use an old kitchen round table with a mat on it so I don’t have to be on the ground or we use a bed. It really just depends on you’re preference

Avatar

Never bought one, I didn’t want to walk to it every change. Easier to use a changing mat at any age. Also expensive for no reason. Just used the one that came with the diaper bag

Avatar

It’s preference really. I just use whatever, be a change mat or blanket on the sofa floor or bed as a changing table would just take up too much room and I’d worry about rolling off

Avatar

I think that’s preference, do whatever you would like to do.

Avatar

I think its preference. We had one and only used it with our newborn. But we didnt want to go upstairs to change her all day so we just used reusable puppy pee pads. And now thats all we ever use. Got rid of the change table. She also rolls around so much it wouldnt feel safe having her not on the ground.

Avatar

We’ve always just had a mat on the floor. Didn’t see the point of a big bulky table, a mat and a nappy caddy works just fine

Avatar

It's completely personal preference. We still have a changing table for our two year old. It's easier doing changing poos on there but for wees most of those changes are done standing up or as I chase him around the house 🤣 I still find the changing table a useful place to keep things too so we've kept it.

Avatar

We just switched to the floor around this age, my little guy is doing everything in his power to roll and crawl away so the height of the table was making me nervous. But it's totally just preference

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!
