At almost 23w and my cervix is measuring short at 25.6mm! This is due to a medical procedure I had 7 years ago to remove soft cells. Drs don’t seem to be too worried, as it’s on the cusp, but I’m having a scan next week and the consultant will decide what the best course of action is. Has anyone with a similar length cervix made full term without intervention? Or am I to expect a pessary or stitch? And any symptoms to be aware of with either interventions?

Hey hope you’re doing ok. Mine was diagnosed at 16weeks and was 24mm. I was really upset and worried at the time, but I’m hitting 36weeks this weekend and baby girl is growing nicely. I was classed as borderline and given the option between stitch or progesterone. I went with progesterone pessaries, 200mg daily. They made me feel a bit more tired, but I just took them in the evening before bed and was fine. My thinking was that if I could avoid a procedure, I would prefer to not have it and I’m glad I didn’t need to go ahead, but have heard lots of people having success with stitch too. Good luck with it all and feel free to message if you have any other questions xx

Hi there! My story was a little bit different but hopefully still reassuring! My cervix was measuring 19mm at 20 weeks with some funneling present. I was put on progesterone and monitored once a week for dilation. Unfortunately progesterone didn’t help and I was 2 cm dilated at my 23w appt. I was rushed to the hospital to get an emergency cerclage. All sounds scary, and it was, believe me. But the reassuring part is that the cerclage was removed at 36w and I still somehow was able to carry my son full term and had to come in for an induction at 40w3d.
This is my second pregnancy and I got a preventative cerclage at 13 weeks and wouldn’t do it any other way.
Your cervix measurement doesn’t sound too bad to be honest and if it stays the same and no funneling present it sounds like you have great chances of having no issues till your due date! Talk to your doctor and good luck!!!

Hey! Slightly different scenario here but I got the stitch at 20 weeks - straightforward procedure. My waters went at 34 weeks and had my baby at 35 weeks. Baby is 6 months now and thriving. Wishing you all the best xx
