My baby is 9 months and has been going to daycare since he was 4 months old. He usually likes it at daycare but for about a week now he has been fussing and crying the whole time he is there. His teachers say he wants to be held all the time and starts crying when they put him on the floor and shows no interest in his toys. He especially seems go get upset when any of the other babies come near him and we are suspecting that he may be bothered by the noise. There used to be only 6 babies in his group and now theres 8 and they are younger so they cry more. I also think separation anxiety might be kicking in. Have any of your babies suddenly started disliking daycare? If so, was it temporary? Do you have any advice for how to help him?

Poor baby! Looks like he is teething hard and this is when their separation anxiety starts. Make sure he has someone who gives him as much contact time as possible. Also, the teachers should have known this particular stage. Babies need their caretakers love and care even more, when they are going through developmental milestones.

Does the day care allow a pacifier or lovey ? My daughter’s had allowed her to have hers and it made a huge difference when she was going through this!

My daughter is also 9 months but not in daycare and has become extremely fussy and crying terribly when I put her down to play, she will maybe play 5 mins and then its kicking the toys away and crying excessively. This could just be a phase they are going through i.e. a developmental leap as they put it.
