Hey all!
So my son is 4 weeks old. We were finally able to do his newborn hearing screen today. They told us that he didn’t pass and they believe he has hearing loss. We have been referred to have additional tests and also to meet with ent to make sure that there is no fluid ect causing the problem. Has anyone else had any experience with this? I have cried all day and am not handling this news well.

My newborn failed his hearing screen. We went back a few weeks later and he did end up passing but had many hearing issues for the next couple years due to fluid and ear infections

Omg! I had CS with my second baby. She failed the hearing test after birth and by the time we were discharged in 3 days she passed.
They said if she failed it weeks for the fluid to drain before another testing.
I know how you feel the second I was so nervous on the hospital bed until she announced the result.
I’m praying for you and this will pass away soon.

if it turns out he doesn’t pass it at all and he has hearing loss i don’t know sign language very well but we can learn together! i’m sorry you and little one are going through this. hopefully it’s as above said in comments.

I had to get tubes in my ear I failed it after 2 months

My second son failed his hearing test at birth and then 5 months later was diagnosed as Deaf. Feel free to reach out! It’s not as horrible as it seems in the moment. I was devastated but thankfully I got connected with some amazing people in the deaf community and now I regret ever being so heartbroken.
