Holiday help

We're very lucky that my partner has some time off in March and we'd like a break with our four month old daughter but we're struggling to choose a location. We thought about getting the Eurostar to Belgium, flying to Spain or driving to Cornwall. We're mainly worried about the pushchair situation for the plane and train, as we're not sure what we need to do to/if we should just take a carrier. We're also concerned that our little ones ears will pop on the plane. We used to be very spontaneous, but since have our little one we find ourselves overthinking everything when it comes to holidays🫠 Ideally, we'd like it to feel like a break as much as possible

We came to lanzarote with our 6 month old yesterday and it was SO easy! I'm so glad we took her. We took the pushchair up to the plane door and just made sure we had the carrier so we could use it the other side, this was a game changer. Regarding the flight our little girl didn't seem bothered she was more excited about what was going on as it was knew. I did try give her a bottle but she didn't really want it šŸ˜‚ defo book a holiday! Feel free to ask anymore questions.

Go for it!!! 😁
We just got back from Fuerteventura (4h flight) with 7 month old and 2.5 year old. On the plane you usually get 2 free baby items, so we took a pram and soooo glad we did, as they both napped in there during the holiday! It goes in the hold but you can take it to the steps of plane! We had the carrier too for getting off the plane (to then go and collect pram).
I breastfed 7m old during take off/landing to stop ears popping and he was absolutely fine🄰You can bottle feed instead of use a dummy, just the sucking will help! (and you’re allowed to take formula/water through security I believe.
Holidays will be a little different with kids but it’s so worth itā¤ļøxx

Hey girl!! we went first time on holiday when baby was 4 months old as well. And I can tell you me and my husband used to be very spontaneous people as wellšŸ˜‚ what I did it’s choose a location that I’ve been before or Somewhere where I could feel familiar. My baby hated those baby headphones things and didn’t wear them at all her ears were fine she slept the entire flight both ways. We just had the car seat from the travel system that it would just go on the stroller. And it was so easy. Just grabbing her and putting her in her stroller. I don’t wanna ruin it for you because of course my experience won’t be yours. But I said I would never go again with a small baby like that on holiday.. to be honest we didn’t enjoy it because I was so stressed all the time. Like is she getting to hot or cold and all sorts of things. It wasn’t so bad don’t get me wrong.. just not so relaxing I would say. Me and my husband would take turns sometimes so we could both enjoy a little xx

But diffidently go for it and enjoy!! For me it it’s much more easier now that she is 9 months.. have fun on your holiday xx šŸ¤ and try not to worry so much

We flew to Spain at a similar age and it was great. We hired a Doona and just left it at the plane steps then had a carrier for the other side between plane, passport and baggage where you get the pram back. Honestly it’s a great age as they’re still so malleable x

Thank you so much for the tips so far! It's just an unknown process for us and would like to try and make our break as smooth as poss!xx

I personally also didn't want to travel on a plane with my daughter when she was around 5 months. I just don't trust them not picking up germs and the plane not hurting them etc. So we drove from Germany to the Netherlands and took an overnight ferry to Britain. It did take a while, but we had a really really lovely time and taking our car meant we could pack it full with all the stuff we might possibly need! X

Tip for ear popping - make sure baby is drinking during take off/landing.

I put my folding pram in hand luggage. Made it so much easier being able to have it straight away.

My eldest was 9 weeks old when we flew to Spain and as others has said it was really easy, feed for landing and take off or give a dummy so they are sucking.
2 pieces of luggage for a child does include a buggy or car seat and frame. Try not to stress, its definitely easier than u think x

Did centerparcs at 5 months and Portugal at 10months. Both fine. No issues on the plane. Took travel stroller so had it in the airport. No worries! I would much prefer a shorter flight than a looooong car journey (I feel this is a lot harder for a young one too)

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?

Identity crisis?

Am I the only sahm who feels like they have lost their identity??? I don’t make money for my family, when I used to make great money. But I refuse to drop my under a year old baby off with strangers.
My husband works so much. But I have no control over bringing in money and I’m a control freak type of person! I feel l like I’m losing my grip because we are kind of broke, but day care would only eat up my income anyways! So what’s the point. I’m a workaholic and now I’m just a twitching bum.
I wish I could work from home but so far that’s a fake dream. I’m almost 9 months pp, and I just need to know these awful mood swings and depression will end soon! Send wine!

Daycare?

Thoughts on daycare?? Truly, I am SCARED to be leaving my kid for daycare. I literally do not trust anyone, not even family (they haven’t given me a reason it’s just trust issues on my end, you never know). He’s turning 3 and I’ve been a sahm the whole time but tbh my man doesn’t make enough for us to move out somewhere more calm . We live in a ā€˜not so safe’ area in LA and I’m just not used to living here so I just want us to give my son a better life and in order to speed up the process I would have to work.. I do lashes at home and I’d be open to take new clients so I wouldn’t have to look for work but I’m just scared to lose my license 😭
