Moses basket

First time mum here- We have a next to me cot ready for babies arrival, do we need a Moses basket as well for downstairs naps? Or did anyone find they didn’t really use them?

With my daughter we had one up and down stairs and we used both all the time. We started with one moving it up and down but it was a pain so we got the second so it helped alot!

With the twins we just had them upstairs and downstairs they would sleep wherever I put them 😂 usually bouncer or on their twin pillow with me on sofa x

We just used the bassinet from the pram downstairs x

Something for downstairs Napa are good moses baskets don't last long. Or, sometimes aren't really liked. Quite often you contact nap in the day anyway.

You can always use the pram bassinet if you need one.

We had a halo bassinest in the bedroom and a moses basket upstairs in the living room. We used both and it was great

We have the icandy pram and plan to use the cot as a bassinet downstairs. We just bought an extra stand for it. It works basically like a Moses basket

I found having a bouncer for downstairs or a electric rocker worked really well

We have both and will use the Bassinet on the pram for when we are out and about.

Some say you don’t need one BUT we will be getting one (gifted) for our July babe — so I’d say get one if you don’t want to have to keep taking them through to the bedroom for naps / need to put them down for any reason but they’re not really a necessity these days. xxx

My little girl didn't last long in hers so I got rid of hers and I used to lie her on the sofa next to me but sometimes she went sleep in her bouncer x

With my first we ended up giving the Moses basket away after a few months, my son had bad reflux and wouldn't settle in the day in there so I used carriers round the house and lots of contact naps. We have one again this time that has been gifted just in case we do need it downstairs. It's hard to predict how much you will need them

with my first i only used the carrycot of the pram downstairs or she was held, being due my second i have no got a modes basket for downstairs just so my girl dosent feel left out and attention is still on her too. all the luck to you

We used a snuz basket downstairs and was useful she was a good day sleeper though. But it just means you have somewhere to put them down when you need to do things (if they let you haha) xx

Mum has asked to be at the birth and I said no…

I’m having my first baby in January and my mum asked me today whether I’d like her to be in the room alongside my husband for the birth of little boy. I could tell she asked because it’s something she really wants but I felt it was important to be honest and say that I really just want it to be my husband and I, but would absolutely love for her to be in the waiting room and the first to meet him after us.

I received a really hostile response back and she told me that her best friend witnessed her daughter’s birth and she feels like I don’t love her as much / im not listening to her feelings because I don’t want to go down that route. It then became quite a negative conversation around how she feels left behind and that I only go to her ‘when I need something’.

It’s made me feel really emotional and turbulent and it’s made me feel quite sad because I feel like she’s not listening to what I want and my boundaries but instead making me feel bad for what is ultimately my decision.

Has anyone had something similar happen? How did you navigate the conversation after?

Need advice

My 10 week old has always been very attracted to me from the start and early on when I put her down in the bouncer or the mat to play she woukd start to cry after 10-20 minutes. Recently its gotten alot worse to the point she starts to cry as soon as I lower her down or bring her away from me. The only time she's happy and not crying when im not holding her is nappy changes, she rarely does tummy time on the mat as she will just scream the place down (she does it on my chest instead).

Will she grow out of this or is there anything I can do to settle her when I put her down, ive tried toys, lights, singing, books but nothing works unless I pick her up. I feel bad that nothing gets done around the house or that I dont get 5 minutes to myself. Shes exclusively bf.

Screaming only at night

Has anyone else experienced this with their little one? 🥹💗

My little girl is nearly 7 weeks old and during the day she’s generally absolutely fine, but as soon as nighttime comes around, it’s like a switch flips!

She screams and cries, sometimes for hours, and it feels like nothing I do settles her. I’ve tried feeding, winding, changing, cuddling. I even started her on infacol and giving her gripe water.

The strange thing is that it’s only at night! During the day she’s a completely different baby.

Has anyone else gone through this? Is it just a phase, witching hour, colic or something else? When did it get better for you?

I’m absolutely exhausted and have no idea what else to try.

Owlet Sock Red Alert

Hi mums! Has anyone experienced their Owlet sock giving a red alert for oxygen levels dropping below 80%?

This has happened twice now with my 7-month-old daughter, both times while she’s been sleeping on her tummy. Each time I’ve gone straight in to check on her and she’s been absolutely fine - breathing normally, responsive and sleeping peacefully.

What’s confusing me is that the Owlet seems to work perfectly fine the rest of the night, and on other nights, showing completely normal oxygen levels. Even when I check the history after the alerts, her oxygen levels look normal, although I understand the graph shows averages.

She’s also recently had a cold and still has a slightly congested, runny nose, so I’m wondering whether that could be contributing.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you get your baby’s oxygen or breathing checked by a doctor, and was anything actually found? Or did it turn out to be false alerts from the Owlet?
