My son was always a bad sleeper. We sleep trained when he was just over a year old and although we had some bumpy nights after, he was generally quite good and would stay in bed until we got him. Since October, he has started coming into our bed. Once every couple of weeks and now it most nights. If he slept when he comes in, I wouldn’t bother so much but can take him an hour to get back to sleep and recently he’d be very upset and crying or having a tantrum. Anybody else in the same position?
There’s a gate at his door and I’m tempted to leave him to cry when he wakes it’s getting that bad. Any advice?

There's a lot of studies now that don't support leaving them to cry it out alone. It harms their little brains and teaches them hopelessness.. that no one will come if they cry.
We've always struggled with sleep for my daughter who's going to be 4 in May. We were referred to a sleep specialist at the children's centre in Hucknall who was a huge help.
We had to make some changes to her bedroom and evening routine which helped.
We still have bad nights now and again, as does everyone. Especially during illness.
What does he tell you is the cause when you ask him?
Thank you for your message.
What changes did you make if you don’t mind me asking? Bedtime is a breeze, we pop him down, read stories and walk out.
He always says he doesn’t know why he wakes up and gets upset. Which doesn’t help 😩. I know at some point they will grow out of it but it’s hard when you’re in it with no light at the end of the tunnel!

My little boy has always always been a bad sleeper, up a few times a night. A couple of months ago it got really bad, night terrors, growing pains, suddenly scared of the dark, scared of monsters etc etc. Could it be any of this? Seems to have coincided with a lot more imaginary play etc for my son. It seems to have settled down the last week or so and he’s proud of himself for staying in his room until his yoto goes green.
Thanks ! Does he go back to bed or come in with you? We went through a stage that he would wake up one or two times a night but I would just tuck him back in and leave and he’d be fine with that. But he’s been wanting to come into our bed which is the habit we formed when he was not well over winter.
It’s hard to know what it is because he says he doesn’t know. But then sometimes he can explain some dreams he’s had so I assume maybe he has some bad dreams. I think it’s more habitual now because it’s more often than not now he wants to come into our bed.
We used to use the green/red light on the Yoto but that worked only some of the time. Maybe we need to go back to that to give another go.

We got a different bed and let her choose which side of the room she wanted to sleep on and hung a canopy over it (she said she wanted a tent) to help her feel safer. A new nightlight that changes colours, swapped white noise for soft waves sounds and took down a painting of a hare from the wall. The sleep specialist said go lie on her bed in the dark and see what she sees. The hare painting looked really scary in the dark so it had to go!
A lot is trial and error. Keep a diary of when he wakes and see if there's a pattern. He might not be linking his cycles as we sleep in 90 mins cycles. Could be some noises outside like someone coming home from a late shift? Etc
Hello!
Has anyone had this with their little one?

I’m having my first baby in January and my mum asked me today whether I’d like her to be in the room alongside my husband for the birth of little boy. I could tell she asked because it’s something she really wants but I felt it was important to be honest and say that I really just want it to be my husband and I, but would absolutely love for her to be in the waiting room and the first to meet him after us.
I received a really hostile response back and she told me that her best friend witnessed her daughter’s birth and she feels like I don’t love her as much / im not listening to her feelings because I don’t want to go down that route. It then became quite a negative conversation around how she feels left behind and that I only go to her ‘when I need something’.
It’s made me feel really emotional and turbulent and it’s made me feel quite sad because I feel like she’s not listening to what I want and my boundaries but instead making me feel bad for what is ultimately my decision.
Has anyone had something similar happen? How did you navigate the conversation after?

My 10 week old has always been very attracted to me from the start and early on when I put her down in the bouncer or the mat to play she woukd start to cry after 10-20 minutes. Recently its gotten alot worse to the point she starts to cry as soon as I lower her down or bring her away from me. The only time she's happy and not crying when im not holding her is nappy changes, she rarely does tummy time on the mat as she will just scream the place down (she does it on my chest instead).
Will she grow out of this or is there anything I can do to settle her when I put her down, ive tried toys, lights, singing, books but nothing works unless I pick her up. I feel bad that nothing gets done around the house or that I dont get 5 minutes to myself. Shes exclusively bf.

Hi mums! Has anyone experienced their Owlet sock giving a red alert for oxygen levels dropping below 80%?
This has happened twice now with my 7-month-old daughter, both times while she’s been sleeping on her tummy. Each time I’ve gone straight in to check on her and she’s been absolutely fine - breathing normally, responsive and sleeping peacefully.
What’s confusing me is that the Owlet seems to work perfectly fine the rest of the night, and on other nights, showing completely normal oxygen levels. Even when I check the history after the alerts, her oxygen levels look normal, although I understand the graph shows averages.
She’s also recently had a cold and still has a slightly congested, runny nose, so I’m wondering whether that could be contributing.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Did you get your baby’s oxygen or breathing checked by a doctor, and was anything actually found? Or did it turn out to be false alerts from the Owlet?

Has anyone else experienced this with their little one? 🥹💗
My little girl is nearly 7 weeks old and during the day she’s generally absolutely fine, but as soon as nighttime comes around, it’s like a switch flips!
She screams and cries, sometimes for hours, and it feels like nothing I do settles her. I’ve tried feeding, winding, changing, cuddling. I even started her on infacol and giving her gripe water.
The strange thing is that it’s only at night! During the day she’s a completely different baby.
Has anyone else gone through this? Is it just a phase, witching hour, colic or something else? When did it get better for you?
I’m absolutely exhausted and have no idea what else to try.
