Trusting family to babysit

Hi. I'm a FTM and have a 1 month old. I have been invited out to a show next month and I really want to go, but I just feel really protective over my baby. Everyone has been lovely and careful with her when visiting, but I can't help but just sit and hold my breath until they give her back when holding her. The thought of leaving her for hours with grandparents sounds so daunting. Any advice on how to relinquish control a bit?

Literally, just doing it. I was so anxious to leave my baby with his dad. I just did it and realized it was all in my head. It wasn’t easy but you have to keep your mind distracted. Eventually, it gets easier!

Having those thoughts with a 1 month old is normal. I had those same thoughts cuz they still nee to the world and their immune systems are fragile and some people dont care the same way parents do with a newborn.

If you want to go then give the person you trust the most watch the baby, if you have cameras place it in the spaces where they will be the most, give direct instructions on how to care for them & also dont feel bad but empowered.

If you don't feel comfortable leaving them then it's ok.

This is a great opportunity for you! Everything is going to be fine and it will feel so good for you to face this particular anxious thought/feeling head on. It's a helpful thing to conquer early on. If you want to work up to it a bit, go get a coffee or run an errand next time the grandparents are over. Enjoy your show!

I personally didn't feel comfortable leaving my newborn with anyone and am not planning on doing that with my second child either. Not because I don't trust them, but because I know I wouldn't be able to relax and in the end of the day they grow out of this phase so soon, it's not like I am locked at home with a baby forever.

If you really want to go, I am sure you will get plenty of advice on that, but keep in mind you don't have to separate this early. For me it felt very natural to let others watch my eldest when she was about 11 months and that's the first time I did so.

If they live close you could start by just asking them to watch her when you go to the grocery store or run errands. I think you just need to do it and you get more comfortable.

We're at 7 months and I still haven't left him with anyone but his dad 😅

I wouldn’t leave a newborn with anyone. Baby and mom are hardwired for each other.

I would do a trial run first for an hour just so that you can relax slightly when it comes to the actual day. Both mine suffered from the witching hour so wouldn’t have trusted anyone with them as it was incredibly hard and frustrating.

The more you do it the easier it gets I guess. My sanity is important. Seeing friends, going events, getting out into the town getting dressed up makeup on enjoying myself reminding myself there’s a whole life outside of my house, is important for me. MIL or my sister babysit when both me and hubby go, but 95% of the time it’s hubby that I leave baby with. To me to have people in the first place to leave baby with is a huge blessing coz many on this app don’t have that.

Cartoon at Reception

My daughter started Reception this September, and it seems like they watch one or two cartoons every day. One is usually *Numberblocks*, but the other changes—sometimes it’s *Bluey*, sometimes *Zog*...I’m not too happy about this, but I don’t know if it’s common for schools to use cartoons for various reasons. I wouldn’t want to be the only mom complaining 😅

Mum guilt

Hey, I’m just posting because I’ve got horrendous mum guilt. I have a 3 year old and now a 3 month old. Prior to having my baby, I was out with 3 year old all the time, always busy. That’s obviously not been the case since having baby. We still do go out but I feel like it isn’t as often. Am I just being harsh on myself? I just find it so overwhelming at the minute but don’t want my toddler to feel like the bar has dropped!

Weaning

Hi everyone! My little boy is 8 and half months old, we have been trying to wean him since 6 months but he is still not that interested, he doesn’t like purées as he won’t open his mouth for a spoon, and if I give him the spoon he uses his other hand to scrap the food off. We are mainly doing BLW which he will happily put the food in his mouth, but if he gets any in his mouth, he will gag and spit it out. Anyone having anything similar? He is still having breastmilk as I know their nutrition all still comes from their milk until they are 1, I’m just worried he is taking a long time to grasp the concept of swallowing food

Shapes on tongue

Why does my 3 year olds tongue look like this? It’s always looked like it on and off and has never caused any issues so I haven’t brought it up to any health professionals but I’m just wondering what it is and whether I should be worried about it?

Partners mobile and odd behaviour.

My partner changed his mobile phone number yesterday, which he told me about in the morning. He still has not given me his new number. Today whilst at the shops he refused to come in but after 20min of us shopping instead of sending or calling me to find out where we were, he came looking for us. Is this odd behaviour or what??
