Elective c-section

Has anyone on here previously had an election section just because that was their preferred birth method? How did the midwives and consultants take it? Was it a hard battle to try and win over? I want a section because I’m very anxious for various reasons over a vaginal birth. So just wondering if anyone has previously had or already been through the process of asking for an elective with out being high risk/health complications/or any “actual” reason to have one

I've previously had 3 successful vaginal births and I told the midwife this time I would like a c-section because midwives don't listen 😂🤦🏽‍♀️ the midwife was fine with it x (I told her this at about 10 weeks- ironically I've now changed my mind - but havent told them yet 😊)

Yes had one . No it’s not a hard battle to win you are entitled to it . Just say you want one and that’s that. They have to give it to you if you ask for it . That’s what I did with my first baby and doing the same this time. They will just go through the normal process of making sure you know all your options and chat with birth choices but ultimately you just continue to say I want a c section and that is that

Induction Pain

Im currently 40+3 with no signs of baby. My midwife wants to talk induction, does anyone have any advice on pain levels and effectiveness from the different types? The balloon method sounds very uncomfortable, but seem preferential to the pessary as you can go home after insertion?

C-Section Date

Hey!!

I am having an elected C-section for a few reasons but one being my anxiety.

I was initially told I would get a date around 39 weeks but I’ve just been told it could be 41 weeks instead.

It’s really shocked me as I think this runs a risk of her coming naturally as well as now adding 2 weeks to her due date (39 weeks now being 41).

Does anyone have any experience or advice on how to manage this kind of news and how their c-section date booking went?

Please note - I’m aware I could get a date and it be moved due to emergencies but I didn’t expect this huge change.

12 week scan - so clinical

Hello,

I’ve just had my 12 week scan. When we started baby was doing a head stand, so had to walk around for 30 minutes. When I came back, the baby was still in an unfavourable position, but could just about get measurements after doing an internal scan. I came out feeling a bit disheartened as she didn’t really say much during the scan, or after, to make me feel reassured everything was fine. I had to ask her after if everything was ok and she just said yes all fine. Am I just overthinking things or did anyone else find it just so “clinical” and one in one out kind of thing. It’s a shame because I’ve had some private scans and I was made to feel so comfortable and reassured there, but the NHS scan just made me come out with anxiety even though nothing was said to be wrong.

Navigating anxiety after baby measured small at 20wk scan

Hi everyone, i had my 20 week scan the other day. Everythings looking good but baby is on the smaller side particuarly head and tummy. I have been asked to go back in for a growth scan in 2 weeks time. I have been reassured by other people that some people do juat have smaller babies. My gp also advised i might need extra growth scans as some of my medications can impact growth but shouldnt be a big enough issue to come off the medications as that could have a bigger negative impact. Trying not to feel guilty as some people have smaller babies genetically anyway, i am jusr hoping to see reassuring progress at the next scan. Would appreciate tqlking to people who can relate

Delivery decisions

Hey everyone!

I’m currently weighing up a scheduled c section verses being induced (first time mum, I have gestational diabetes, baby is measuring big, high blood pressure, high bmi and various other factors for this)

I know there’s no real ‘better choice’ but I’d love to hear your stories to help me decide!

How was your experience, your recovery ect?

Thank you!
