Im a new mom and not sure what the difference is? Im trying to do a lot of research because of all the stuff I've witness my family member's kids go through either in daycare, preschool or school in general. I really don't want to be sending my little off somewhere like that.

Unschooling I think is much more common in the UK.
The stark raving dad podcast is helpful too I think, the first season mostly if I recall correctly. He’s a New Zealander in Australia

You can unschool whilw.you homeschool. As they get older to meet certain educational standards based on your state you'll need to follow a curriculum but otherwise you can homeschool as you please

Unschooling is a form of homeschooling. It’s child-led, self directed and doesn’t focus on traditional schooling methods. So say for instance your child is interested in chess. You might go find books, documentaries, etc to help them learn more about it. Then turn that into a unit study to include the history of chess, how math fits into that, future careers in chess, famous chess players.
Check out the book “Homeschool Gone Wild” by Karla Marie Williams. She has successfully homeschooled 6 children this way.
