Consultant booked c section for 39+4?!

Is this normal? I recently moved house so all my care was under a different hospital who advised thinking about a section after my last birth was awful with lots of complications and ended up in theatre anyway. I chose this and was told it would be at 38 weeks, also having issues with my heart, high blood pressure and preeclampsia symptoms again. But this new consultant would only book it for then but it makes me so anxious how close that is to my due date?? Is this normal?

This is an absolutely normal date for an elective c section. They’re always in the 39th week for most situations. Are they aware of your health issues and have they said this is a reason to have a c section earlier? If not then it’s completely normal, I had mine at 39+4, if you go into labour before then they’ll still do the section :) no need to worry x

It is normal. Consultants mostly like to book elective caesarean section once 39 weeks are completed. I have undergone elective c-section a week ago at 39+3.

My consultant explained me that till 39 weeks proper lung development of baby is completed and if there is no urgent need to perform c-section(due to worsening of complications), they prefer 39 weeks to be completed.

It normal as I had mine scheduled at 39+1 . They said I wasn’t high risk that was why it was that week.

Go to PALS and make a complaint say you're not being listened to and that serious health issues it was agreed it would be 38 weeks and now the new consultant has booked you late 39 and you weren't listened to. They'll intervene for a 2nd opinion. Be noisy! Honestly I wish I'd don't this with my first, I had to go 3 times with my 2nd and it was previously inappropriate.

Defintely call them up for a discussion.

I had my elective week 37 as they factored in my health issue and risk to baby, it was scheduled for later but they moved it. There’s plenty of spaces in theatre diaries to make way for emergencies

Mine was booked for 40+2 weeks

Can you get your old consultant who agreed this with you to ring the consultant you’re seeing now and tell them the plan?

Unwell after sweep

I’ve had a sweep earlier today, lost the mucus plug about a couple hours later. Got period type cramping immediately, I hadn’t even left the midwife appointment yet. I have contractions and permanent back cramping, alongside waves of nausea - which is a combination I’m struggling with as I feel quite unwell. Nowhere near labour, as I’ve had 6 contractions in the span of 3 hours or so. A midwife told me sweeps cause really bad cramping, so I assumed it was normal. But just want to check if there’s anybody out there in a similar boat? Should I be calling the hospital to check if it’s all normal?

Has your life become a living nightmare since becoming a mom?

Sometimes I become conscious of the fact that I just have to wake up tomorrow morning and do this all over again. Every day. And then I wanna bash my head into a brick wall

39 Week Induction Being Pushed On

Went to my 36 week appointment today and my OB was pushing for a 39 week induction.

I want a natural spontaneous labor but my OB kept pushing for the induction even if I’m low risk and healthy. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Overwhelmed!

I’m due in June with my first baby, we started saving money before I found out I was pregnant and have continued to save money however, as we’ve needed to buy lots of baby stuff, decorate her room etc, we’ve not been saving no where near as much so obviously our total amount of savings hasn’t been going up as much as we like.

We’ve just had our renewal for some bills like council tax (which has gone up) etc. I just feel really deflated and thinking how on earth are we going to survive when I’m on maternity pay 😕

I know everything will be okay but it’s just really got to me today.

Did anyone else feel like this? Was there any help or things you did to make it easier?
