Breast Feeding time

At my daughter’s two month appointment my pediatrician said that I should be feeding her for 15 to 25 minutes every time she eats. However, that is never been the case for our breast-feeding journey. Either I have a really fast letdown or she just chugs it down, but she seems full and satisfied after less than 10 minutes. does anybody else also have this dilemma? I have her four month appointment coming up and I’m not sure if it’s completely normal for her to be eating and getting full and that short amount of time on the breast.

I have a fast let down. It's usually a problem in the beginning because it makes my babies choke, it comes out too fast. And if they pull away, they get sprayed 😂 they can be done eating in 5 to 10 minutes. When I pump, I can get 2 oz from one boob in 5 minutes, or even 4oz if I'm quite full. My babies also only eat from one side, then I feed them from the other the next time. If I offer the other side, they won't take it. Honestly, if baby is getting fed and pooping regularly, and gaining weight, then you're probably fine. It's hard to measure how much baby is eating like you can with bottle feeding, unless you're weighing them before and after every feed (which I have never done). But as long as they're healthy, you're fine.

I don’t think watching the clock is gonna tell you how much your baby has eaten…. You can always do a weighted feed w/ a LC to see how much baby is getting.
I did one at 6 weeks & my daughter chugged 2.5 oz in about 6 mins. Lol so you just never know!

My baby never eats for longer than 10 mins 🤷🏻‍♀️

My 4 month old eats for like 3-5 minutes I have a fast let down though so I think she just gets enough quick .

My baby eats for 5-10 minutes too! I have a fast letdown and he’s an efficient little eater. He hasn’t nursed for 15-25 minutes since he was maybe 6-8 weeks old (20 weeks now). I usually only feed him on one side each time I nurse. If I offer the second side he spits up from being overly full. I’ve done a weighted feed before and he got 3.5 ounces from 10 minutes on one side, so it works for us. As long as he’s gaining weight and has plenty of wet diapers you’re fine!

Babies get efficient at feeding, don’t worry about timing. As long as baby eat and happy and gaining weight then you’re good

You girls are all so lucky mines on the titty for what seems like hours then I have to supplement with formula cause she's still fussy

I was also told this and it sent me on a spiral, like it’s already hard to believe the milk is even there (I had low supply for so long due to blood loss) and then lactation consultants keep saying ain’t no way my baby is getting enough in 10minutes even though she is growing on her curve and peeing and pooping like a champ. What really threw me off was one LC’s offhand comment to when I said ”if she is isn’t getting enough how is she growing and all that” she said ”you would be surprised”. Like underneath all that growth and milestones-hitting she was somehow still suffering because she isn’t nursing for 20minutes 🧐🧐

All of this really makes me feel better abt feed times. My pediatrician was very adamant about the 15+ minutes but I’ve timed every single feed since she’s been born and they are almost NEVER more than 15 mins.

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

Bed time tips for 8 week old

So I literally cannot get my 8 week down to sleep before 11:30pm every night no matter how early we start our routine. We tend to do bath every second night but every night consists of feed, up to bed, into pjs, book, feed to sleep. We could start this routine at 7 and it would still be the case of not selling til 11:30.

She doesn’t nap during the day well, we get a 30 minute in the morning, and a 1 hour in the afternoon only if I’m out the house. She’s never distressed when she’s awake all that time, quite the thing being nosey and having cuddles. She’s EBF and her feeds all through the day are LONG and last from 30-45 mins each feed.

Any tips/advice recommended on how to get to bed earlier or just how to get her to sleep in general.
