I want to have a c section again with my second.
When/how long does it take to see a consultant and when will I roughly get my date?
My first baby, my waters broke at 39 weeks and I had him the next morning first thing, however I also then had to have a section anyway. But I do want to have one again with my second. I told my midwife this at 16 and 24 weeks, she said she sent a referral but no appointments have been made so a little worried. I’m 28weeks today

For elective c sections, my NHS trust agreed I could have one at 39 weeks, but wouldn't give me a date till 38 weeks as their policy is a week before to account for staffing changes etc. I actually went into labour naturally before I'd even been given my date. Regarding consultants appointments, I was deemed high risk from the start of the pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder so was under consultant care from the start, I still saw my midwife regularly as usual, but started seeing a consultant from date of my 12 week scan which was arranged by midwife at my 8 week check. If not heard anything keep chasing the midwifes, but if they don't see it as an urgent thing, they may say it can be discussed in your birth planning appointment, which for me was at 32 weeks. At that point I said to my midwife I was considering an elective c section and she told my consultant and I had an appointment at 34 weeks with them to discuss elective c section.

If you make an appointment with ob-gyn (in my experience, I’ve had three c-sections) they will schedule it for 39 weeks if your water breaks or you go into labor before they may give you the option to give birth naturally if you want or they’ll just do an “emergency” (not scheduled) c-section, if you’ve had a c-section for a previous pregnancy

I found out around 32/34 weeks with both my planned c-sections. Both were at 39+2. My 1st was at 41, after labouring.
