I know toddlers start to hit around this age and it's normal, but honestly, my boys outbursts are really difficult to handle. It's even affecting my marriage. My 5 year old daughter flinches now as well and doesn't want to play with him. I'm terrified for when he starts school or childcare. Currently my husband stays at home whilst I work, but we're looking at him going back to work. I don't want my boy to be excluded from care, or friendships because he struggles with impulse control and communication (as all 3 year old's do).
Has anyone been through this and have some resources they can recommend please? Any therapists they know of, or sensory seeking activities for little boys who just want to run around. I'm in Gloucestershire, UK.
My boy is so sweet, and he loves to kiss and cuddle. He's polite to us and others, but when he doesn't get his own way it's an immediate explosion. And you can't talk calmly to him because it'll just fuel him even more. We've tried separating him, but he doesn't sit still. He'll scream at the top of his lungs, throw things, shout, hit and scratch. It's tough... For such a sweet boy, this behaviour is concerning and we want to nip it in the bud as early as possible.
Me and my husband don't argue, and we're very much in the mindset that if we raise our voice excessively we repair the relationship, apologise and explain that raising our voices isn't nice. And I like to think I hold firm boundarys by saying "I will not let you hit me" whilst moving out of his arms reach. What more can we do? š
Suggestions please! š„š

I donāt have any advice because Iām in the same boat but just wanted to say youāre not alone. I feel like my boy is testing our boundaries every 5 minutes at the moment and is pushing it with absolutely everything. It is so hard. Just trying to stay calm (which I donāt always do) and trying to stay consistent. Exhausting is an understatement!! Three aye š« š

When he hits - calm but firm "we dont hit." "Hitting is not kind". "Its okay to be angry, its not okay to hit" Short sentences. If he hits again - move away. "Im moving away so I am safe." "Im not safe around you when you hit". If he follows you and continues hitting, hold him down. (He won't like this part - mine doesntš
) "im holding your body until your body is safe. I love you." Then when mine relaxes we have a cuddle.
After hes fully calmed down we talk about it - you was hitting and it hurts. I had to hold your body until it was safe."
Took my child a week or so but after consistency and clear boundaries we rarely get to the holding down stage now.
Now when he hits, he acknowledges hes angry and I offer alternatives "shall we cuddle" "whats making you feel angry"
Xx

My daughter has only just came out of this stage still has out bursts but does get better, i know it's not nice but a naughty step or room for time out helped us a lot! because she didn't want to do it again! hope it gets better xxx

Sometimes the usual techniques people recommend donāt work because the behaviour isnāt ānormalā.
My daughter has a similar issue, my daughter sounds worse tbh, but itās a rage issue, and once upset itās a real struggle for her to come down from that place, itās escalates and escalates because she genuinely cannot control herself. She becomes so deregulated during these episodes, her face changes with pure rage and sometimes Iām even afraid of her. But I can see her in there somewhere, and I can see she is suffering and wants to stop, but canāt. So it just goes on and on and gets worse and worse. Any kind of interaction or being present makes it worse. I just get hit and kicked and things will be thrown at me. She charges at me hitting when I walk away. I have done all the things youāre told to do consistently, but in the end itās just cruel because she CANāT control herself, she isnāt choosing this.

All toddlers struggle with their emotions and overact to noās and boundaries and demonstrate an avoidance/protest to day to day demands to some degree or another, but once upset, my daughter struggles to return to her baseline within a normal time frame, and usually its exhaustion that gets her to stop, nothing I am able to do. Afterwards, when sheās calm, we have really good reflective discussions about what just happened. Still, nothing has improved the situation, if anything itās getting worse.
I was referred to a specialist health visitor and at the minute weāre doing VIG together, but she has also mentioned a lot of resources, courses and support that Iām able to access without having to get my child diagnosed with anything. Sheās also referred me to an early years team for more support with this. So, maybe if you relate to anything Iāve said, it could be helpful to reach out to your health visiting team to see if they can offer you some support too.
I am very much a bath girly and am starting to really miss having a nice warm soak.
A midwife in the hospital told me that I should wait 6-8 weeks for a bath. Is this true? Can a bath without soaps/ bubble bath be had before this? I have been showering daily, avoiding getting shampoo and shower gel on my incision.
I am 4 and a half weeks post C section.
Thanks for any advice xx

He is also extremely fussy and upset during his feeds at the moment and just tends to cry or scream alot, is this normal x

My 8 week old has no real routine. His dad and I split the night and take a shift each in different rooms and weāre really just muddling through responding to however he is that day/night. I know every baby is different but when roughly should we start a routine and what should it look like?

Is there recommendations on what I can do to improve this? Does it seem like he is behind?
