Which one seems to work better for your baby? I am ftm, with a 4week old, I am not entirely sure what is the best option to get him to sleep restfully for a few hours between feeds.

My little one loved the love to dream swaddle as he likes his arms up by his face. Every baby is so different but they really worked well for us 😊

At the beginning I had to swaddle my baby because I’d wake up to her having kicked off the blanket but as she grew stronger she’d release herself from it so I went for sleeping bags instead and that’s been great. Her hands get quite cold though since they aren’t in the sleeping bag so we did use sleep suits with 2.5 tog ratings for a while and I loved it since it gave her so much freedom and I didn’t have to worry or layer her up but eventually she got too warm and got a heat rash from it so the sleeping bag (same tog rating) has been better.

I swaddled with an XL muslin and then tucked a cellular blanket over her (waist down) that was tucked into the next to me mattress, probably up until about 10-12 weeks. Once they start showing signs of rolling, stop swaddling and swap over to a togged sleep bag. When she was very little I absolutely loved the Jojo Maman sleep bags as they fit really well and had sleeves. They’re overpriced but I got my lg’s on Vinted. Atm though we just use supermarket brand ones, mostly Tu. I would definitely look at a temperature chart to check how baby is dressed for bed and what tog bag to use depending on room temp x

I personally don’t agree with swaddles, We used blankets until 2 months and then started sleep bags when I was sure she was big enough to keep it on and not wriggle down

I think it depends on your baby. We went straight into a sleep sack as she wanted her hands by her mouth and hated being restricted. But she was never really phased by her startle reflex? So I think it all depends on your baby

My LG was never phased with startled reflex and likes to sleep with her arms up and hands behind her head so we used sleep bags from birth she always kicks blankets off.

My baby also likes sleeping with her arms up or on the side and never liked being swaddled but also woke up if her hands were too free.. So she always slept in a sleeping bag (2.5 tog, no blankets on top) and we had rolled towels around her to help support her hands so she's sort of not in an empty cot but also she's not swaddled. All babies are different x

I didn’t swaddle. I found the sleep suit a bit cumbersome the first few weeks and used blankets tucked under. Baby kept kicking them off and we eventually switched to a sleep sack.
LO is 16 months and still in sleepsuits.
In the end LO slept really well with arms free.
