Our local nursery has a year long wait list! So we’ve just been for a tour and registered (due in sep)

Depends on the area, but nurseries around me are around 2-3 year waiting lists. Luckily I got one for my daughter at 16 weeks pregnant to start when she is 9 months old

I’m a deputy of a nursery and signed my son up as soon as I found out I was pregnant - had to sign him up through my fiancé so work didn’t find out yet 😅

It’s at least a year to 18months here

Where I live it’s a 2/2.5 year waiting list. I didn’t know this and my daughter was 2 last month, she is starting in July. My son was born last September (2025) and doesn’t start till July (2027).

So definitely the sooner the better.

I registered my 2nd when I was 12 weeks pregnant, I didn’t need a place till he was 1 and they were almost full for the time I wanted. Do it asap x

Depends on the age. For a baby room, when you're early ish pregnancy tbh.
Older ages have bigger rooms so tend to have more space.

I booked my baby when I was 25 weeks pregnant and they had no spaces available until she was 11 months old.

WFH + Childcare

For those that don’t send their child to nursery or childcare, how do you manage? We don’t want to put our 20 month old in to nursery yet (plus we don’t qualify for free funding nor can we afford nursery fees or other childcare costs anyway).

At the moment, my Mum just retired. I will be starting a new job end of the month that requires 3 days a week in office and my partner just got a new job 2 weeks ago that requires him in office 5 days a week.

When I start my new job, my Mum has agreed to take our daughter Sunday night - Tuesday night so I can go into the office 2 days a week. Not sure how to manage the rest of the week 🥲

Currently I go into the office twice a month. I drop my daughter off to my in laws for 1pm Tuesday and Wednesdays. By the time I get back home its 2pm and Ill work till 6/7. My Mum then had her Thursdays (her day off). And Ill wfh and look after baby girl Mon and Fri. The wfh and looking after baby is not sustainable as I dont get any work done. My new job is a step up in my career and will require a lot more work and responsibility. I’m super grateful for the opportunity but not oblivious to how hard this new change will be.

Any advise?

So my friends mil is really nasty. She constantly tells her son that he shouldn't be with my friend, told her son not to have another baby with my friend as she is only after the money, told her son my friend is only nice to her face. They didn't go to church on Sunday and the mother phoned her son and said how dare he not go. Bare in mind her son is in his late forties. She is 80 odd. She is very controlling and constantly stabs my friend in the back. What should she do. Any advice welcome.

The mother in law doesn't like cats, my friend absolutely loves them. They won't tell her they got a cat because she will go mad.

I think it's absolutely ridiculous that she is trying to control her son.

Anxious thought

One of my many anxious thoughts but what would you do if your car broke down on a busy road- with a toddler and baby. Who do you get out first?
Would have to be the toddler (nearly 3) first, then baby… else I’d have no hands to unclip the toddler. But then where do you put the toddler.
Please tell me everyone has these scenarios running through their head🥲

I just saw a video of a car broken down on a smart motorway, so they were half in a lane. How do you get your children out then?! I hate that I overthink everything.

Weaning

Hey my boy is now nearly 7 months and I have no clue what I’m doing with weaning and giving him food. He does have porridge in the mornings most days but just stuck on what to do next. Any advice would be appreciated x

How do I leave

I've been with my daughter's father for three years going on 4, the longest relationship I've ever been in. And our daughter is 2 will be 3 at the end of the year same time we started dating. Yeah we didn't have much time to get to know each other before getting pregnant not to mention I left him to go back to an ex then cam crawling back then got pregnant but I really don't feel like we're together I feel like roommates and we fight all the time I work graveyard 10 hr and he works 2pm-9pm he says he's more tired because he cooks well I serve I be tired too but I'm supposed to keep the house in order because the house represents the woman and I take care of our child as well I can go on and vent but it's pretty clear I want to leave but hes always saying " the house is in my name cars in my name your not takingy kid but GTFO " EVERY TIME WE FIGHT" I have no family to go to and where I am there's not many places that help with housing (that I can find) so and advise thanks in advance ❤️✨🫂
