Has anyone else had a baby that had the femur that measured small/short. Everything came back normal on our 20 weeks scan but due to some unrelated issues we've had to have more scans. We are 29 weeks
Everything else on the baby's growth is in the 50th or above the 50th percentile but the femur is measuring in the second percentile. Has anyone else had this and how did it turn out?

I can't remember the specifics but the percentile of my babys femur was a lot lower than the rest too. I bought it up with my consultant and he just said, it could be a measurement error or it could just be a short femur and either way, it just is what it is! Which was actually surprisingly helpful to me at the time š
He's now 5 months and in the 93rd percentile for height so wouldn't put too much stock in it! But do ask the healthcare professionals if you are worried! X

Hi! I've just had this with my 3rd. We had a scan with fetal medicine who confirmed all.of her long bones (arms and legs) were under 5th centile. But the rest of her was measuring ok. I had regular growth scans to ensure she was staying on her growth curve until delivery.
She was born at 39 weeks, I had a planned induction due to how small she was and that failed so I had a csection. She was small! 5lb 15 but is completely healthy. The specialist doctor checked her over after birth to check for any abnormalities but they were happy.

The measurements of baby's femur was smaller at 32 & 34 weeks for us - he ended up coming at 35+5 for other reasons & is 8 weeks now but so far no issues. Good luck! x

Yes we had this with our daughter, at one point her legs (femur) were too small and another point her belly was too small, and the doctor actually told me that this could just indicate that baby is too small in general and its not just that part of their body so in other words there is no abnormalities it is just a small baby and this is just their way of measuring baby that makes it seem that way basically šif im even making senseš¤£but she was born weighing 5lb14 and was perfectly healthy. He also told me it could just be that their measurements are wrong (which is very common, both times i had weight estimations just before birth that were not accurate at all)š¤£š¤£or that baby is simply just growing at their own pace which is also normal. Honestly with these cases just take everything with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise because alot of it is just for precaution or is inaccurate readings. I know its really scary in the moment ā¤ļø

I also was told with my son that he had a cleft lip and believed it until they did more investigation and found out he didn't, my auntie was actually told her baby had microcephaly and was transferred to a specialist hospital for remainder of her pregnancy and birth but it turned out baby was completely fine. Sometimes they just have to say these things but it turns out not to be the case so don't worry yourself I spent countless hours crying over these things but I know not to believe any of it this pregnqncy until proven otherwise 𤣠x
