I received a letter yesterday with the date for my c-section on it. I’m so incredibly nervous now.
Baby will now be a May baby (if the date doesn’t get moved for emergencies).
I had an emergency c-section last time under general anaesthetic after failing to progress and baby’s heart rate dropping. This time I’ve had a bit of a nightmare pregnancy and I’m now at high risk of infection so they said induce at 37 weeks. I ended up on that induction drip last time and I want to avoid it at all costs. I’ve also been told that the induction drip slightly increases your chance of rupture after precious c-section.
I’ve still got really bad birth trauma from it all. I’m just wondering if any of you have any positive experiences of a previous planned c-section that you can share with me (I don’t like any option and really want to avoid the emergency again hence opting for a planned one).
I’ve already been through the possible things that can go wrong with the consultant and although he said low risk of these things, I just keep running them over in my head.

I had a planned C-section arranged that ended up as semi emergent due to reduced movement. The whole experience was lovely, very calm and I was reassured and provided plenty of information along the whole process. I am doing C-section again for baby no.2 in a few weeks time.
The anesthetist and your birth partner will be right by your head and are a great distraction to chat with them.
I hope baby no.2 will be a positive experience for you xo

I had a planned c-section with my first due to her being breech. It wasn’t a bad experience at all. Arrived at the hospital for 7am and baby was born at 11:30. We had our own music on, got to have skin to skin right after birth and my partner cut the cord etc. My only complaint was them not having a bed for me in postnatal ward so waiting in recovery for over six hours without any of my stuff. But that’s an issue with that specific hospital. A c-section under general is such a different (and traumatic) experience compared to a planned one. A planned one is obv much better! I’m having a second planned c-section due to baby being breech again and I’m nowhere near as worried this time. Will also be a May baby. Good luck ☺️

I haven’t had any experience but I’ve literally only heard good things about a planned section over an emergency one! Everyone has said much more chilled and relaxed and you’re able to actually process what’s going on easier. Also, I’ve heard recovery is easier too because of this.
Like I said though I have no personal experience but I’d personally be happier with a planned section!
