Essentials for starting nursery

What do you pack in your babies nursery bag? Or what items have you bought which you have found useful?

I pack spare clothes, usually 3 vests/short sleeves, 2 jumpers, 2 pairs of trousers and socks. I also pack nappies and the staff will take the pack out of the bag. I also do a packed lunch as he doesnt like to eat at nursery. Anything else i keep in the car for pickups like snacks and drinks etc x

I pack 2 spare tops, 2 bottoms, socks and a vest. I also pack his sleepbag for naps. In the front of his bag I keep nappy cream, teething powder and some baby vicks as hes been a bit poorly atm. I also keep his slippers in there as the nursery said sometimes they'll put them on them after being outside to stay cosy. Wipes and nappies stay at nursey and I just top up when they tell me hes running low x

Puddle suit, spare socks, spare bibs, teething gel, comforter, a meal pouch (just in case he's being a diva), couple of spare outfits, shoes/wellies, and a drink! Everything is labeled! Except his socks 😂

Our nursery asks us to leave a bag there. Inside is spare clothes. For baby I pack 2 spare outfits including vests and socks, some spare bibs, winter/summer hat, gloves and a jumper in case they get cold. We are also asked to leave wellies there once they are confidently walking. We also provide nappies, wipes and nappy cream and they let us know when they are running low for us to provide more x x

My little boy started at 6 months he had 2 changes of clothes and vest, socks and a pair of shoes for crawling outdoors. A puddle suit and an extra jacket or jumper as another layer.
Sun hat and wooly hat for winter / summer. Dummy and we had to take bottles and formula

Second pregnancy, same rude midwives!

Honestly, I can’t believe how we’re sometimes treated during pregnancy.

I went to my first appointment today and asked for a toxoplasmosis test because of a potential exposure (my husband cooked a half cooked venison burger 😑).

The midwife’s response? “I don’t know how it is in your country, but here we don’t routinely test for it. I’ve had a lady from France who wanted a test too because apparently that’s how they do it there.”

To which I replied, “I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been pregnant in France!” 😂 And just to clarify, I’m not even french, I’m belgian!

The whole appointment was honestly awful. I know the exact date of conception, but not the first day of my last period and my cycles are very irregular. Despite explaining all of this, I was told multiple times I was probably 9 weeks, maybe 10, when I know for a fact I’m 11 weeks.

Now I’ve been told I need to go to the Early Pregnancy Unit to confirm my dates (that I already know), because they’ve booked my first scan for after 14 weeks.

Those who were induced, did you end up having a C section?

Out of all the people I have spoken to, all of them ended up having 3/4 day inductions that ended in c sections! It’s left me on edge about whether to have an induction if offered.

Fundal height

Just had a 25 week midwife appt and they measured my fundal height at 97th percentile 😳

At my 20wk scan baby was around 40% percentiles on individual measurements and only around 28% for weight. I know it’s only estimates but I was shocked as never had such a high measurement before. Even with my son in my first pregnancy I was absolutely massive and I was never that percentile for fundal height and I definitely don’t feel as big either.
I’m only short like 5ft so I always have a bigger bump anyway but just worried about it being 97th already. They said if next appt I’m measuring big I’ll get referred for a growth scan. Anyone else had or going through similar?

Early contractions?

I’ve been cramping for about 3 days days now, they’re quite strong, don’t last too long but they’re quite far apart. Like twice a day, then 3-4 times a day. And today I’ve had 4 already. I normally get an urgent need to go to the toilet when they happen so guessed I might just have an upset stomach but that hasn’t happened today. I really don’t want to go to triage if it’s nothing

20 week scan

I have had my 20 week scan today. Baby was being a nightmare so they’ve had to re book to get other measurements. They couldn’t get spine (only the bottom) or the heart.

Is this something that happens often?
