Out of all the people I have spoken to, all of them ended up having 3/4 day inductions that ended in c sections! It’s left me on edge about whether to have an induction if offered.

My induction only lasted 6hrs!

My body responded to sensitively to the gel and so ended up not being able to continue with the induction process.
It didn’t go to plan but I was happy I got to experience contractions etc. all options come with their own risks and benefits I suppose.

My induction lasted a whole week because midwives were short staffed and no one available to care for me so they started the induction but then stopped and I didn’t progress naturally very fast. I ended up with an emergency c section 27 hours after they broke my water and a failed attempt of instrumental delivery. Also an issue I had was they couldn’t find the right dose of pitocin for me. It was either too much and I had hyper stimulation (continuous contractions and baby getting distressed) or too little and contractions were not intense and frequent enough to progress.
I have 2 more friends that were induced. One had a great experience and had her baby within 6 hours. The other also ended with c section because she got an infection.
I think a lot of it is down to luck and how your body reacts to the medication. I for one I think I would prefer to avoid another induction in the future but if it gets to it I would try to go for mechanical options if possible instead of hormonal

I had the induction on Monday and gave birth Wednesday 5am. Everything went as planned. Even the pain they had planned for me with the hormone induction thing. Was in labor for 8 hours. I couldn’t have anything to eat because my sugar was too high. This was back in June in a heatwave. We both are fine and healthy. But doctors said I’m a rare case due to my age and diabetes. Which now my diabetes is better than it has ever been. Lost the weight in 3weeks.

I had a positive “induction”. My waters broke at 37w 1d and i had the oxytocin drip 14 hours later. I was in active labour for 2hours 32mins and pushed him out in 15mins with a minor tear.
I had gestational diabetes and i was booked for an induction at 38w anyway so there was no escaping it for me 😣 but i had a really positive experience with the drip.
Yes the contractions were quite intense (back to back for the 2 hours) but i was used to terrible period pains and it didn’t feel far off that for me. I had gas & air with 1 dose of oral morphine to cut the edge.
With him being my first , i was told it’ll take hours and be so hard. I read all the scary induction experiences and was petrified. It’s honestly different for every woman. Just have an open mind and do whatever feels best for you 🩷

I was inducted at 6pm on a Friday, by 10pm I was having 6 contractions in 10 minutes, they moved me to the delivery suit at 5am and she was here by 9:23am on the Saturday. It went really well, the only thing that didn’t go as planned was the episiotomy that
I had to have because they couldn’t measure her heart rate and they needed to get her out a little quicker.
I was really nervous about getting an induction as they told me to pack for 5 days as they said with her being my first it likely wouldn’t work the first time! x

No! I was terrified of inductions and it ended up being amazing. Had an epidural and didn’t feel a single contraction. Ended in a vaginal birth, no instruments and small tear.
Wow thank you for all the lovely positive stories! Perhaps it’s more that people only share the horror stories 🫣

My first induction ended in an emergency c section, I have vaginal deliveries with the other 4 and were all induced (one half induced 🤣)
So at my 20 week scan, baby was measuring on the 8th percentile but the ultrasound tech said baby looks healthy (organs and other measurements etc.) and the uterine Doppler and blood flow to baby are fine and within range. However, because baby is under the 10th percentile they want me to have additional scans at 28, 32, 36 and 40 weeks.
I know these scans are just to see if everything is ok but I went down this route with my first baby (for the opposite - being too big) and they picked up on the smallest of details to worry about and I felt forced into giving birth early, thinking about induction and c section (which ultimately did end up in cs).
I would love a VBAC/HBAC this time, and know I have the right to decline these scans etc. but I’m conflicted as I want to make sure baby is healthy but I also don’t want to feel like they’re deciding how birth is going to go for me.
Has anyone had a small for gestational age baby and everything been fine? Anyone declined growth scans and all be ok? Just after some advice on what I should do as my head is spinning at the moment with all the possibilities…

Honestly, I can’t believe how we’re sometimes treated during pregnancy.
I went to my first appointment today and asked for a toxoplasmosis test because of a potential exposure (my husband cooked a half cooked venison burger 😑).
The midwife’s response? “I don’t know how it is in your country, but here we don’t routinely test for it. I’ve had a lady from France who wanted a test too because apparently that’s how they do it there.”
To which I replied, “I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been pregnant in France!” 😂 And just to clarify, I’m not even french, I’m belgian!
The whole appointment was honestly awful. I know the exact date of conception, but not the first day of my last period and my cycles are very irregular. Despite explaining all of this, I was told multiple times I was probably 9 weeks, maybe 10, when I know for a fact I’m 11 weeks.
Now I’ve been told I need to go to the Early Pregnancy Unit to confirm my dates (that I already know), because they’ve booked my first scan for after 14 weeks.
Absolute joke 😅

Who else has not had any bump yet at over 17 weeks? I'm almost forced to call my midwife to raise my concerns.
I feel like my bump was bigger between weeks 13-15 than afterwards.
Is this something to be scared about?
My dating scan showed I have anterior placenta, I'm not sure if there's any relation between them in any way.

What were you up to when your waters broke or the first few contractions started?
I’m 40+1 waiting for something to happen and just trying to pass some time so tell me your stories 😂

I am a mum of 2, I have a 4 year old daughter and an 11 month old son. We had planned a family party at our house with all our families but having had a kitchen renovation recently which has gone way over schedule it looks a bit of a mess. We also have a lot going on and decided to cancel the birthday party. Instead we are taking him to a farm just us and having a quiet celebration with just my husband and my daughter. Someone told me that i was being silly and I shouldn’t care about the kitchen etc which made me feel really guilty.
Is anyone else not worrying with a birthday party? I didn’t realise it was too much of a think for 1st bday parties!
