i was the same way i am scared of any pain in general i feel everything and i have anxiety so i was def freaking out but i kept being told its not as bad as i think and that my freaking out can make it worse so on the day of i tried relaxing and just being vocal to my nurses that i have anxiety and about my pain tolerance and i swear to you it went so smooth i had no pain! The needle in the back for c sections is tiny btw and did not hurt it just felt a little weird and that’s coming from someone who’s scared of needles , and iv or any other shot hurts more than that lol another thing, during the anesthesia session ask for the anxiety relief!!! when i tell you that calmed me down so much during the c section i lowkey felt high and happy just so relaxed lol😂 and didn’t feel any pain and only felt some pressure towards the end when getting my twins out and that wasn’t even bad! Day 2 i started to feel pain but i immediately asked for anything that can help that’s stronger

I was in a NCT class last night and they covered a few different ways to help calm yourself.
Firstly spend some time before you go in for your surgery looking for positive birth stories rather than the dramatised versions we see on social media and in film. Very often if you start watching things that are negative on Instagram for example then your algorithm will just show you lots of the same, but there are loadssss of resources that have tonnes of positive birth stories!
Practice positive affirmations and if you have a birth partner with you, suggest they download some onto their phone as you are allowed your phone in the theatre and then they can read them out to you if you’re feeling really stressed and anxious. It would also give them something to say if they are unsure how to relax you as you can have a look at them beforehand and check that they are along the right page of things you would want to hear in that moment.

I was scared as well! The week I was having my baby I cleaned my house top to bottom that help my mind stay busy! Get rest while you can!
Once I was in the hospital so much happens that I wasn't really scared anymore. It was painless, you can only feel pressure and once you see your precious baby you forget about anything else!

Try to focus on what you can control. Maybe you can still have your music playlist in the OR. I’d recommend packing some very comfortable sweat pants and button pj tops/nursing gowns.

You will be fine. The fact that it’s elective reduces the risks that would come when you have to respond to an emergency. The doctors may tell you that while they’re doing the procedure, which may last no more than about 1520 minutes, if that, if they’re talking about absolutely nothing important, that means all is well. At least that’s what my doctor told me. If you can have a support person there with you to laugh and talk about whatever it is, you wanna talk about while the doctors do their thing, great. I remember the one thing I was the most afraid of was the anesthesia application. I felt a little pinched and then all of a sudden, my feet felt warm and that warm feeling went all the way up to my waist and not even within a few moments everything was numb. As long as that happens to you, you won’t feel a thing. risks associated with were significantly reduced because it was a nonemergency situation. In other words by electing to do it this way, they can go in focus take time

I had an elective 11 days ago and honestly it was such an easy process. As it was scheduled everyone felt really relaxed, the staff were great at talking you through what they were all doing which for me helped me relax as I felt aware of the situation. Im post 11 days now and barely taking pain relief any more and moving around pretty well :)

I had an elective 8 months ago and honestly I was so scared throughout the whole process as it’s the fear of the unknown but make your surgical team and midwife aware and they will comfort you as much as possible, they were amazing with me! They offered to put music on and everything trying to keep me distracted from what I was scared of and it was the best decision I made in the end couldn’t have wanted it any differently! Also remember what you are getting out of it that beautiful little one that you are super excited for 😇

It’s the best. I would choose a c section over a vaginal birth. I didn’t even know they made an incision, before you know it baby was crying. I can’t even see a scar a year on

It was the best decision ever! Good luck! You got this!!

Girl, firstly, I just want to give you a massive hug because I’m literally in the exact same boat as you! 😭💗 I’m having my elective C-section this week too, on Thursday, and whilst I’m SO excited to meet my little girl, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous myself.
One thing I’ve been reminding myself is that we’re not going in there to experience something scary, we’re going in there to bring our babies into the world safely. And that’s such a beautiful thing when you think about it❤️.
I’ve had an emergency C-section with my first daughter, and although this time is planned, I still have those little worries about the procedure, recovery and pain. But something that’s helped me is reminding myself that I don’t have to be brave every second, it’s okay to be nervous, I can ask questions, I can tell the anaesthetist exactly how I’m feeling, and I can ask the medical team to talk me through everything.
Honestly, I can’t believe how we’re sometimes treated during pregnancy.
I went to my first appointment today and asked for a toxoplasmosis test because of a potential exposure (my husband cooked a half cooked venison burger 😑).
The midwife’s response? “I don’t know how it is in your country, but here we don’t routinely test for it. I’ve had a lady from France who wanted a test too because apparently that’s how they do it there.”
To which I replied, “I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been pregnant in France!” 😂 And just to clarify, I’m not even french, I’m belgian!
The whole appointment was honestly awful. I know the exact date of conception, but not the first day of my last period and my cycles are very irregular. Despite explaining all of this, I was told multiple times I was probably 9 weeks, maybe 10, when I know for a fact I’m 11 weeks.
Now I’ve been told I need to go to the Early Pregnancy Unit to confirm my dates (that I already know), because they’ve booked my first scan for after 14 weeks.
Absolute joke 😅

Out of all the people I have spoken to, all of them ended up having 3/4 day inductions that ended in c sections! It’s left me on edge about whether to have an induction if offered.

Who else has not had any bump yet at over 17 weeks? I'm almost forced to call my midwife to raise my concerns.
I feel like my bump was bigger between weeks 13-15 than afterwards.
Is this something to be scared about?
My dating scan showed I have anterior placenta, I'm not sure if there's any relation between them in any way.

What were you up to when your waters broke or the first few contractions started?
I’m 40+1 waiting for something to happen and just trying to pass some time so tell me your stories 😂

Just had a 25 week midwife appt and they measured my fundal height at 97th percentile 😳
At my 20wk scan baby was around 40% percentiles on individual measurements and only around 28% for weight. I know it’s only estimates but I was shocked as never had such a high measurement before. Even with my son in my first pregnancy I was absolutely massive and I was never that percentile for fundal height and I definitely don’t feel as big either.
I’m only short like 5ft so I always have a bigger bump anyway but just worried about it being 97th already. They said if next appt I’m measuring big I’ll get referred for a growth scan. Anyone else had or going through similar?
