Baby 2 - nhs appointments

I had an emergency c-section with baby 1. So im assuming now with baby 2 ill be high risk and consultant led. I know a previous c-section increases your risk of miscarriage so is there anyway to make sure my booking appointment is after my 12 week scan? I dont want to waste time on it for a non-viable pregnancy. Can I just ask for a date thats after my scan?

Im also assuming that im going to be told that I have to be consultant led, cannot labout at all at home and continous monitoring the whole time. I feel like with that there is almost no point in trying for a vbac because thats going to end with my failing again and another emergency c-section.

Unsure where the risk of miscarriage come from but I’ve never heard of that and wasn’t aware of that either!

The blood tests need to be done before/ at week 10 so yes you need the booking appointment before the scan.

You absolutely can do whatever you want to do. Lots of people have homebirths after c-sections. They can make recommendations but ultimately how you birth is entirely up to you.

Congratulations on your baby. Honestly I’d recommend a birth reflections meeting to understand how your first birth ended up in a c-section or anything you can do this time to avoid that. & btw.. an emergency section isn’t failure. Sometimes it’s just the safest way for baby to enter the world.. my second baby included x

Scheduled c-section

Evening everyone! I’m really considering a scheduled section
I don’t want any criticism, how ‘labour is natural’ etc.
I had an emergency c section in July 2021. My waters broke at 12am and 19 hours later they delivered my son, I know labour is hard, especially your first, but what I endured in them 19 hours was SO scary, I was having panic attacks in the birthing pool from the pain, NOTHING worked (codeine, g&a, pethidine) it was so scary, me and my baby got so poorly because it was left too long. It was genuinely such a traumatic birth, once I got that needle in my back ready for my section, it was the best thing ever
I know recovery is difficult, but I’d like to go in, have my baby and go home, as I have a second one at home, not being exhausted from labour
What is everyone’s experience? Especially for mums who have kids at home? Not gonna lie the only thing putting me off is the social pressure 🤣 thanks :)

Is it normal for pre-school applications to require your marriage license (only if you weren't married at the time your child was born or if you have different last names)?

This is my first time enrolling my child and it felt like a weird requirement but maybe that's normal? They will already be receiving their birth certificate that has both parents' signatures. A marriage license isn't requirement for parents who were married before birth or for parents with the same last name, that's the part that makes me feel odd about it.
