I really do want to understand because I find this very confusing. I've seen a few posts recently where people have asked how to get their child to nap more during the days but their child sleeps fine during the night / sleeps through the night. My question is why - is it to get more personal time, housework done etc? Because isn't a baby sleeping through the night the gold standard. I went incognito because I don't want anyone coming for my neck now!!!!

In our case, our girl sleeps through the night since she was very little. But she does that because she naps during the day (2-3 naps) if she's too tired because she slept short naps or not enough naps for her age she tends to wake up 1 or 2 times.

Usually the problem is their behavior between naps. If they're not napping enough, then they're extra tired and fussy during the day. It also means baby is held back on great development because they're too tired for their brain to do its job.
