My baby is 6 weeks old and feeds well throughout the day. For the last feed before bed he will often scream, be wriggly, hitting arms, bobbing off the boob and back on again. I know ultimately he does want to feed and eventually will calm enough to feed. What causes this and is there anything I can do to make it better for him or prevent this? It’s tricky because I want him to have a full feed pre bed.

My baby does this when he has gas or reflux, or if he’s overstimulated / over tired.
You could try taking him off and giving him a tummy massage if you think it could be gastric related, or feed him in a really dark room with white noise playing if it’s over stimulation / over tiredness.
I remember 6-8 weeks being peak fussy stage, and my baby used to get sooo over stimulated so easily.

I thought the same re gas and do give him a tummy massage when he does this and also I’m feeding in a dark room with white noise and swaddle on.. I don’t know what else to try! I do wonder if it’s over tiredness by bedtime after a long day, but he is getting about 5-7 hours of naps each day
