Hi mamas!
Long story short, I got a new job. They have an onboarding week for all new starters every month in New York, we have discussed starting dates and agreed on September.
I am from the UK and this would mean flying to NY on sunday evening and flying back on Thursday/Friday eve. My LO will be 15-16 months then. I wouldn't want to end our breastfeeding journey for a job but I'm unsure if I will be able to keep my supply pumping while I'm there until I'm back.
My partner is extra supportive and seems optimistic that our LO will adapt and will probably want to continue when I'm back but I'm not so sure. If anyone has any tips or has experienced something similar I would appreciate your insight!
They can't come with me unfortunately. Also my LO breastfeeds a couple of times during the night, when he comes home from nursery, before he goes to sleep and sometimes in the morning but he can fall asleep without milk/boob.

Your supply will be well established by now so you should be fine but take a pump anyway because you donât want to risk mastitis stopping cold turkey.
Every baby is different but I canât see why your LO wouldnât want to come back to boob since itâs only a few days! My daughter has just come back off an 8 day nursing strike because she had mouth, gum, tongue, and lips sores that made it impossible to eat or drink, let alone latch, and sheâs back on the boob like nothing ever happened! Showing her videos of herself and some of her friends nursing helped give her the confidence to try latching again once she was able đ«¶đŒ

I did this. I went away for about 5 days when baby was just under 18m old. I actually had the intention of it being the break from breastfeeding as I wanted to stop but couldnât see a way of stopping as baby fed on and off through the night. I was bursting at the seems when I came back (so def bring a pump at least for relief!) and had a very lovely feed when they met me at the airport. I then had a break of three days and then a final and last feed. Baby didnât move on after the break and would have happily continued had I let her. I think youâll be fine, just try to squeeze in a bit of pumping before bed while youâre away! Good luck!
