Worried mum 4 month Baby

My baby girl hasn't had a poo for the past 18 days. I've taken her to the GP and they've assessed her thoroughly. They said she's perfectly fine, felt her tummy not hard or anything, and prescribed lactulose, which I've been giving her, but she still hasn't had a poo.

She's feeding really well, has plenty of wet nappies, seems happy, and otherwise looks absolutely fine. The doctor has told me to just keep giving the lactulose because they can't find anything wrong with her.

I also mentioned it to my sister inlaw, and she said it can be normal because sometimes babies use all of the milk they drink, so there's very little waste. That did reassure me a little, but I'm still worried!!!

Every day I keep thinking something might be wrong, even though she seems completely fine. Her farts smell really strong, but she still doesn't poo.

Has anyone else's baby gone this long without a poo? If so, what happened? I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences because I'm feeling quite anxious.

Forgot to mention she’s exclusively breastfed

Im not trying to add to your anxiety (sorry) but 18 days is a really long time for no poo. No poo whatsoever in that time?

If it were me, i would ask to see a different GP tomorrow, and ask for an urgent referral to a paediatrician. If they refuse that, or there is going to be a lengthy delay, I would take them to A&E.

This must be so stressful for you, i am so sorry you are experiencing it.

I dont agree with the frida windi at all but as a last resort i would probably use that.

I had something similar with my son I BF in the beginning but he was jaundice and had “excessive weight loss” combi fed in the hospital and he was given a rectal thing to help him poo can’t remember what it was called but he ended up fully formula fed on prescription milk due to silent reflux and CMPA he’s still having movicol now at 19 months I know it works differently for ebf I got told there’s usually not much left to digest as it’s easier on their system so can be completely normal for them not to go my 11 week old went 5/6 days and then had a massive poo she’s ebf I wouldn’t stress too much I’d baby is being there usual self and still feeding well x

Is she trumping/farting? My little one doesn’t poo much, but the GPs told me it because of the heat. As long as she has wind coming out that end don’t be worried.
Could you ask for a second opinion if you are worried?

What advice would you give yourself?

I’m a first time mum to a nearly 6.5 month old and I’ll admit I’ve struggled quite a bit with postpartum mental health issues I’ve been referred through mental health services and at one of my recent appointments we finished the session with her asking me to reflect on what I would tell myself freshly postpartum knowing what I know now and it got me thinking just how far we’ve actually come in this time.

So I thought I would share the question. If you could go back to your freshly postpartum self what advice would you give her? I think I’d say to slow down because it goes by so quickly and to just give myself grace because you’re actually doing an amazing job (even if it doesn’t always feel like it)

Vaccines

No judgement please but wanted to get people’s options and any website or medical research about the vaccines for babies. I am really undecided on if I want my little one to have their vaccines. Some of them contain metals which scares me! Any advice would be great

Bed guard on side of cot

What is everyone’s thoughts on these? We are considering taking a side of my sons cot off and putting on of these one?

We lowered how cot recently and I’m so short I’m struggling to get him down for bed and makes resettling difficult when my partners not there. We considered getting a floor bed but really not in the financial situation for this yet.

Get nervous about things like this so would love to know! My son’s 13 months.

When to stop rear facing?

Car rear facing mirror gets kicked down every single car ride now from my long legged almost 2 year old! His legs are pretty bunched up i guess....
I'd like to keep him rear facing though? Who else loses their mirror every journey!

If breastfeeding, do people offer both breasts at each feed or just one?

I am intrigued as to any difference between offering both breasts compared to just one. For no specific reason, ive only ever offered one. My baby feeds a lot and is hungry (and grouchy!). I’m wondering if I should be offering both or if there is little difference!

Need Help!

Hi, I’m a FTM to a 4 week old baby boy. I’m concerned about my baby during evening feeds. In the morning and afternoon he usually only needs 1–2 burps, but in the evening he gets trapped burps after almost every 2–3 sips. He starts gulping the milk quickly, arches his back, breathes fast, cries, and won’t continue feeding until the burp comes out. Milk also leaks from the corners of his mouth while he’s drinking and once he burps, he settles and starts feeding again, but the same thing keeps happening throughout the feed for about 8-10 times in one feed. Does anyone know what might be causing this or has anyone experienced something similar?
