am i a terrible person

let’s just say me and my husband aren’t in the best financial situation. we barely scrape by on rent, get behind on some bills and can’t afford groceries or diapers from time to time. this is one of those times we barely scraped by on bills so we don’t have ANY extra money. ZERO. (also partially because he eats fast food at work basically every day instead of packing a fucking lunch) but, my mom is nice enough to help us when we need it. she’ll buy groceries that wic doesn’t cover, diapers, gas, things like that. this month my mom has helped upwards of $400. anyways. my husband comes home from work and says he found $25 in his work truck, i’m thinking FANTASTIC! just in time to buy wipes, milk, and get gas for him to go to work tomorrow so i don’t need to drain my mom😋 he then follows it with he gave it all away to a homeless man. i’m a bit peeved. because we could’ve really used that money. he says i’m selfish and only think of myself. i said we really needed that, it’s not fair to have to drain my mom out (who is a teacher btw so doesn’t make that much). he says helping people should always inconvenience yourself, i said it’s more than inconveniencing us. WE DONT HAVE ANYTHING! if it weren’t for the help of my mom we would’ve been homeless by now! not to mention, my husband said i hold no value over the homeless guy or anyone else. i said a hypothetical, if you had to choose to save me or the homeless man who would you save? gun to your head. and he said he would let us all die. am i just being a selfish asshole? please be honest.

Umm omfg no not selfish at all. I mean yes hes being nice but he really needs to think of you and your child before a homeless person.

It’s one thing if he wants to do that to himself but it’s his responsibility to provide for his kids first and foremost. His priorities aré screwed up.

When his kids and you are fed and housed then he can have the leeway to give away. What he’s talking about inconvenience should -common sense here- refer to luxuries, convenience or extras, not basic needs.

Cant pour water from an empty cup, you know? What’s really screwed up is he’s not just using his cup, he’s using his kids’ cup to fill a random strangers cup.

You are being a responsible parent. Not selfish 🤦‍♀️

Saying he’d let you all die is crazy and also he’s living off of your mother’s grace. Two separate things can be true he can be kind in one way and selfish in another. Y’all honestly aren’t in a place to be thinking of anyone else until you can properly take care of yourselves.

Probably let him feel your mother not stepping in for a month and he might come back to understand how terrible the situation of you guy's living is.
Because one thing I notice with most men is that they get relaxed and think all is well when there is backup.
Remove that backup and their brain will start to see the emergency.
He needs to understand that your mum can't be there all the time. Even if you are the only child, she can't always be stepping in always as she also has retirement to save towards.

Actually at this point, he (and maybe you, if you are not on maternity), needs to have a sit down full on conversation. start looking at a much better financial future plan.

If it means getting a more paying job, moving to a smaller place, removing unnecessary expenses (junk food like u said, giving to others, etc) for now, and some other practical things.

Because honestly, being homeless or at the verge of homelessness with a child is the last thing you want.

Sorry you are going through this though

Teenagers living at home

Hey everybody just looking to settle a debate. I’m based in the UK and I’m a disabled single mother, my son recently turned 18 and he has a job has left school and is going to start college in the fall. I currently work 16.5 hours a week on minimum wage due to my disability. I no longer receive child benefit etc for him as he isn’t a child and I’ve asked for £100 digs a month to help towards food and bills.

My friend thinks this is unreasonable and he shouldn’t have to pay rent to live at home. I think I’m helping set him up for life and understanding responsibility but I don’t know!

What do you think?

Sleep deprivation/hormones = poor relationship??

Really struggling at the moment. I’m nearly at week 7 and alongside my baby who still won’t settle at night due to reflux/wind, barely settles in the day unless being held/carried, and is taking an hour to feed through crying/gagging at the bottle I feel like I’m going through intense PMS.

My mood swings are crazy and I find if I can get nothing done in the day except feed my LO, I’m so so stressed which makes me naggy with my partner when he comes home from work - he thinks just holding her while I can do other house bits is helpful (which it is, but if he could muck in and do housework too that would be great)

Me and partner are still sleeping separately, he’s downstairs on a mattress and I’m upstairs with LO trying to settle her all night. This was fine except now it’s making me feel so disconnected from my partner.. I don’t feel like we’re a team and just passing ships.

Friends have offered to baby sit for a night so we can go to the cinema, but I’d feel so guilty leaving her, has anybody else left their 7 week old for a date night?

Me and partner have barely held each other since LO was born, never mind sleep in the same bed and DEFINITELY haven’t done the deed.. as much as I’d like to be intimate again, the thought of doing this with her in the next to me?? Would that not be weird?

Just feeling a bit lost and like me and partner won’t find each other again. Someone please tell me we will, and that I will eventually exit robot mum personality and become a bit of myself again ☹️ feeling so unattractive with my new saggy unwashed body while partner resumes his almost back to normal life.

Can anybody relate and tell me this all gets easier?

Is this considered "advanced"?

I know every child is different, but I'm just wondering if it would be considered particularly advanced that my just turned 3 year old (was 3 in May) can write his name unprompted from memory, as well as writing "mum" and "dad" from memory. We can dictate any letter of the alphabet to form a word and he could write it out in eligible handwriting. He can also write 1-20 in order from memory. We haven't pushed numbers and letters on him, he seems to just have a particular interest in them. Even a year ago he knew all the alphabet letters and could recognise and recite each one individually from signs or books etc. Blows my mind!

What is my problem?

I’m struggling y’all. I had my son 9 months ago and PPA and ppd are kicking my butt and now ppr is coming in hot. The worst part is the rage is directed all to my husband. I feel such resentment towards him. Like all the time. He’s not a bad guy but when he can’t settle little man he just turns on reels to distract him. Which drives me crazy. He sits on his phone a lot playing games. I feel like I’m going crazy. But everything he does is just like come on guy. I want him to be more present. I want to have more help around the house and with dinners. I want him to understand that ppa and ppd are real and they suck. But he sucks at taking feedback. I try to express that I feel like we’ve lost our spark and he says I’m wrong… I’m desperately trying to feel lovey but honestly I just don’t. I just feel irritated by him. I feel our candle is burnt out and he just says it’s not true. I don’t know the purpose of this confusing rant but I needed to get it out.

Tension at home

I don’t know if I just want to vent or I want advice or want to see what people did in my shoes 😫
Me & my husband have been together for 10 years we’re solid as can be had so many ups & downs
We’ve just had our first baby she’s 2 months now and he’s great with her - absolutely loves her
Our situation is just so rocky now - he gave up his job, as we had to move for my career and unfortunately we were naive we thought he could just pick up where he left off but he ended up being unemployed for 2 years and now is working a minimum wage job just to get by
He’s lost hope, isn’t really applying anymore & his career has been really affected
It’s causing so much stress & tension at home & I just don’t know what to do anymore - hate that it’s around my daughter too and it’s not helping my feelings towards him pp (even tho I can see he’s giving a lot of his energy and time but I just can’t deal with pp, baby and his issues too)
Any advice??

My fiance is being accused of something that he would NEVER do. I have tried everything to do this alone,I have nobody to talk to about this. If anybody has ever dealt with somethings like this, can you message me,so I can talk. I need advice! I literally cry everyday over this, I dont know what else to do.
