Keep the communication open with them and be honest. It's not like you were spending it on wants or wishes but actual needs. I feel this so much though because I'm constantly stressed worried about how we're gonna make it through the month some days.

You could ask UC for an advanced payment which you set, then they take it out of your payments for a few months until it's paid off. I did it once without knowing how it worked and had to pay like £28 a month, which they just took out of each payment they sent me every month

Does your school have a second hand uniform shop on the school premises? They sell practically new, or brand new with tags on uniform in various sizes. I picked up a pack of 4 summer dresses for my daughter for £5 which still had the tags on and usually cost £20 from Sainsburys.

Ask your GP for a referral to a food bank.

Bless you, I agree with what everyone else has said. Just call them, as long as you promise to pay on a certain date, you’ll be fine.

Also, you said you’re tired of making these choices, but I just wanted to say people who live in financial precarity make awful choices because you focus on the immediate, not long term and your ability to plan is heavily compromised. Google financial precarity and cognitive issues, you’ll see what I mean. I’ve been there and used to beat myself up, but someone shared an article with me once about that and all my stupid decisions made sense all of a sudden. Just wanted to share that so maybe you’re less hard on yourself.

Have you considered second hand clothes and school uniform? They're very affordable.

We use our local Preloved uniform hub to help with uniform. It's all free and has really helped with that expense when things have been tight. Other towns local to us have them too. Hopefully there's one near you.
