I said how I was going to take my little one to a little park nearby at a certain time, as before there had been a nice range of ages playing there. My partner commented that he was sad our 1 year old didn't have any friends to play with. Now our 1 year old has 3 main different friends but can't see them all the time due to the other mum's going back to work and fitting it in. I know I'm not the best socially myself, but I've been really trying. I just don't know what to do. Even when I've spoken to or met people on here, they just stop talking/disappear. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm taking them to different baby classes but I feel like everyone knows each other and stays on their pairs or groups, and I feel like an outsider looking in, wishing that was me. Don't really know what I'm expecting from this, just feeling upset as I'm trying my best and just getting nowhere.

You are doing so well, please don’t worry about friends at this age!! My baby doesn’t know how to play with other babies, they learn more from observing but mostly from you and your partner. It’s probably just your partner’s beliefs coming out rather than anything to do with the baby.
I am doing well socially and often also found baby groups awkward and exactly as you describe it so again, what you’re experiencing is normal and your baby is so so lucky to have you try so hard. You’re the best mum they can have and you are enough! Sending you big hugs
