Is it more lonely for women than men as women (mum) do more childcare??? Or at least carry more of the mental load. My partner does what he can and is hands on. But his experience is different to mine. He doesn't do any days on his own and if he does its one or two every few months. Not two days every week, while working full time.

My jobs allows me to do condensed hours, so I do. It saves us on childcare costs. We dont have any family or close friends where we are living. So this deffinetly plays a part. But surely other people also live away from their village and manage????

I feel lonely and my mum lives 5 minutes up the road. I think it's cause we're not in contact with other mums who have babies our age, postpartum changes in our body and mind, being at home a lot more than usual. My mum works full time so I have to wait until the evening before I get to see her. My partner is hands on, but he works shifts, so he's not always here. I also think it's the norm that the majority does fall on us mamas!

If you hung out with some new mom friends a couple of times, but they don’t make plans to actually hangout with you all summer, are they even worth the effort of trying to have a friendship & play dates?

I feel like summer is where you’re supposed to be making all the plans to have play dates because there’s so much more to do & these girls will say yeah let’s plan a play date, but never actually follow through. So now I’m wondering if they just don’t actually want to be friends. It just feels so rude to me and I’m wondering if I should just delete them off of social media.

Also, what’s up with other moms getting my phone number and then after I add them on social media I just won’t hear from them anymore it’s so weird

Physical intimacy issues postpartum

Hey gals I need some advice - my fiancé is a very good and hands-on dad with my 6 week old son, but now I’ve been cleared at my 6 week appointment he wants to start having sex immediately and regain some of the intimacy he feels we have lost during pregnancy and immediate post-partum.

I do too, but I don’t think he understands my perspective - I’m still sore from my c section, my boobs are constantly leaky and sore from breastfeeding, my body looks very different than it did, I’m tired from exclusively doing the night feeds, and I don’t feel like I have much of a sex drive yet (even though I do also miss the intimacy).

I guess from my perspective I just don’t feel physically or psychologically ready just yet. I have told him this, but all he says is “you’ve changed, it’s like you don’t care about me anymore”. It’s not that I don’t care about him, it’s just that my priorities have changed. I think, as much as he’s a good dad, he’s a bit jealous of the little one and how much of my time and attention he gets - my fiancé interprets that as me not caring about him, not me being a good mother to our son.

Anyone else been through this, or have suggestions for how I can broach this in a careful way to try and resolve this situation?

Venting

I would love to make more friends .. during this period of my life of having two under two has been quite challenging… but I’ve been adjusting the best way I can. Wishing I had friends around me .. lately I’ve been feeling a bit lonely and sad at the fact that I had friends but for some reason during this time in my life I really haven’t had anyone be there for me other than my sisters , mom and my bf and his family ( I am not complaining at all) they can’t always be there in the way I would like. It just makes me sad that I have no friends . And dealing with postpartum is hard enough.. idk I’m just venting and hoping I can find my people’s one day.
