Learn more about our guidelines. Is it more lonely for women than men as women (mum) do more childcare??? Or at least carry more of the mental load. My partner does what he can and is hands on. But his experience is different to mine. He doesn't do any days on his own and if he does its one or two every few months. Not two days every week, while working full time.
My jobs allows me to do condensed hours, so I do. It saves us on childcare costs. We dont have any family or close friends where we are living. So this deffinetly plays a part. But surely other people also live away from their village and manage????

I feel lonely and my mum lives 5 minutes up the road. I think it's cause we're not in contact with other mums who have babies our age, postpartum changes in our body and mind, being at home a lot more than usual. My mum works full time so I have to wait until the evening before I get to see her. My partner is hands on, but he works shifts, so he's not always here. I also think it's the norm that the majority does fall on us mamas!
