I’m looking for honest opinions on a situation with my sister-in-law.

My husband and I recently moved to a new area where we don’t know anyone. We’re about 3 months in, and I’m 7 weeks postpartum with my first baby. I’ve been finding motherhood quite overwhelming, especially without my usual support network, and I’m still adjusting at my own pace.

My sister-in-law messaged me saying she feels disappointed in how I treat my mum compared to hers, and that this is affecting her distance from me. She also offered to connect me with a friend who has a similar-aged baby.

I replied explaining that I’m still adjusting to new motherhood, feeling vulnerable, and only recently becoming comfortable accepting help from my own mum. I said I’m not ready to accept help from her mum yet, and that I need time and space to do things at my own pace, while still appreciating the offer of support.

I’m now wondering if I’m being unfair for feeling more comfortable with my own mum right now, or if my sister-in-law is being unfair in expecting equal treatment between the two grandmothers at this stage.

I don’t think you have done anything wrong at all. You’re going through a lot, rather than digging at you, why doesn’t she ask how they can make you feel more comfortable and support you in different ways? Postpartum is a very complex thing, and the fact you said you’ve only just accepted help from your own mum, means that you’re not even singling anyone out, of course you’re going to be more comfortable with your own mum that’s normal. It’s not like you are saying they aren’t allowed to see their grandchild either. I’d say just try and explain how you’re feeling and that you are trying your best but need their support rather than judgement or criticism . You’ve just had a baby you need comfort not criticism xx

Learning at nursery

So my little one’s just turned one and he’s starting nursery later this month. His nursery doesn’t offer any basic learning/curriculum at all until 3 years. My baby is quite a fast learner so I was hoping he would pick up new things at nursery like colours and 123.

Is this the case at other nurseries too? They only do singing, interactive/messy play. Am I expecting too much lol

Needing to get out / do stuff with other moms

Yall- I don’t even know where to start .. but as I continue this search for people who share the same interests .. I tend to go backwards I feel like . My husband works 12 hrs most nights one week and 24 the next (goes b&f) . And so I’m usually stuck at home all the time when he works or sleeps to regain rest . I do enjoy going out with my little family , but imo it’s a different feeling when you go out with friends . You feel like you can unwind a bit and not feel so tense or wtv ur feeling . I need some of that more often . And I haven’t been able to accomplish that for me and my baby as much as we’d like to . I can’t drive as of right now and that just makes it even harder … Any ideas or suggestions ladies ??

Follow up to - should I apologise post!

So I didn't apologise.

Since then - My son had a family only bday party and she refused to come because it was a garden party. She messaged half an hour before we were expecting them. She said it wasn't safe in the heat. She was meant to be bringing his cousins and Aunt and Uncle. None of them came. The heat was 28 degrees, cloudy and we had out big gazebos.

She messaged and asked when we were going to reschedule and I said we weren't going to. She then didn't answer and hasnt answered me now for 3 weeks.

I am really struggling to move past this.
I also don't feel like my partner is getting it. He spoke to her and she said the heat isn't safe. I feel really sad about this.
I also feel like she is judging me!

We cannot go to her currently.

What would you do -

Husband.

Every month I go through my husbands phone because earlier this year after he turned 21 we went to the bar to celebrate he got really drunk and started hitting me and stuff telling me he cheated on me and threw his phone at me so I looked through it like any normal person would I didn’t find him talking to other females or anything like that he was watching thirst traps on a burner instagram account he got rid of this account fast forward my whole pregnancy he has been doing this I’ve stated how I felt about it and I told him it will have impact on me him and his child. Do you guys think that it’s because I’m fat ? Ugly or he’s just bored of me.. I need some serious advice do I leave. ( every time I try to leave he guilt trips me and tells me he’s going to kill himself )

Weaning 4 months?

Can anyone give any advice on if they started weaning baby or giving them baby porridge or purred food at 4 months and how it went?

How much are you January babies eating? How many meals are you offering? How much do they ACTUALLY eat from it? Struggling as my girl still isn’t showing much interest in weaning.

I have 6 recipe books for ideas and honestly some of them seem insane to me😂 also BLW genuinely gives me fear. I hate this first starting to eat stage honestly and her not being interested isn’t helping me😩
