Hi , has anyone had any success with marriage counselling? I’ve been married to my husband for 4 years (together for 7)we share two young children a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old.
Having our second has certainly shown the cracks in our relationship and how lazy he is, he never helps with household chores, no get up and go (he tried to convert the garage left it in a right mess for years (unusable) I inherited some money so paid 20k for it to be sorted.
he is chronically ill with no diagnosis and needs to rest & watch tv when the kids have a nap whilst I’m doing jobs! I’ve now reached the point of compassionate fatigue as I carry the weight of everything. He’s started belittling me and treats me like I’m stupid - even my family and friends have picked up on this. I’m honestly so fed up now I shouldn’t be feeling like this so soon , it used to make me sad now it just angers me. I’m thinking the first step should be marriage counselling as it is in all our interests to make this work. Has anybody got any advice or a similar story?

Hi, I am in the similar situation but additionally to this I had twins and my husband started watching po*n like crazy for over a year. I have confronted him and made him going to couples therapy. I thought it would be his last chance to fight for us as I am already almost convinced I should file for the divorce. We have had 2 sessions of couples therapy so far. I think he only says what I want to hear just get over with it. I don't feel like he is taking it seriously. I am going to give it 1-2 more seasons and I am done. Him not taking it seriously makes me feel even worst and hate him more. I guess if he wants to go, you should try it so in a couple of years you can be sure that you did all to save your marriage. It is a tough one and also remember that there are couples who are stronger than ever before after a therapy. Stay strong xx

Yes it is hard as I also don't want to share the custody but also what I keep saying to myself is that at least half of a time they are going to have a happy mum rather than miserable all the time. And I want them to believe that love and happy family do exist and currently they will not learn it by looking at us. Also, if your husband is not involved in taking care of the babies, probably he will not want to have babies too often. Probably be a Disney daddy at the beginning and then his interest will fade away once he sees how hard it is to take care of two babies. My twins are 16 months old and my husband has never woken up at night to take care of them so I don't think he would want to have them now overnight too often. Xx
