My baby has just turned 1 and we’ve recently transferred her to sleeping in a floor bed. Although we weren’t in a rush It’s something we wanted to do however we were getting pressure from some family 🙄
It’s going okay, I do end up in the bed with her most nights. Her sleep had hit a bad patch before transferring her so it’s hard to know if it’s the bed or other factors (pretty sure more teeth are coming in)
One thing I have noticed is although she may not be waking more than she was for me the nights are feeling 10X harder and more disrupted because I’m having to physically open my eyes and get up and it just got me thinking about how great co-sleeping has been for us.
We co-slept from birth and EBF. My baby never lost her birth weight in the early days and I 100% think this was due to co-sleeping as I could feed on demand with such ease. My body has gone back to looking like pre birth and although I think this is from EBF I do wonder how much getting decent sleep from co-sleeping helped me heal. These are benefits people that don’t support co-sleeping don’t see. It’s so frustrating as you feel like you’re banging your head on a wall trying to convince people it’s good. Babies also need good sleep to develop so why wouldn’t we do what we can for them to have the best sleep possible 🤷🏼♀️

Honestly I’ve given up trying to explain to people why co-sleeping works so well for us! We also have family members who make comments saying she’s going to be sleeping with us for a long time if we don’t change it now and how it will affect our marriage etc 🙄 I just roll my eyes now and change the subject! We are both happy to have her with us and we all sleep really well for the majority of time so we’re in no rush to change it!
I also have friends what are really struggling with sleep at the moment and I have mentioned co sleeping and they just will not do it, it’s like the principle of it more than actual beneficial reasons. I find it so odd
I will always cherish having my baby sleeping right next to me or snuggling in. I actually really feel for the parents that have missed out on these moments because their baby has always been in a cot
