Hey everyone,
Our little one was born 6 weeks early and had low birth weight, he levelled out around the 5th percentile. I’m just wondering how anyone else who has had a preemie or smaller baby has found feeding? We are mostly bottle feeding expressed milk at the minute with some nursing, as he didn’t have the coordination or stamina to breastfeed effectively, but he’s now 2 weeks adjusted/corrected (8 weeks since birth) and still not feeding well from the breast. I’d like to move towards more nursing to escape triple feeding hell!
any advice welcome! Thanks ☺️

Hi premature mommy here in they have baby milk for premature babies and that help my son out a lot and you can try giving him 2oz then move up to 4oz like 3 weeks after giving him 2oz and see how that’s goes and also keep him sitting up for 30 mins that also helps too and when he turns 2 months you can add a little baby cereal into his bottle and I say give it to him two times a day and that will help unless he can’t have it.

My Son is the same. He was born at 33+3. Weighing 4lbs. He’s now 10 weeks, 3 weeks corrected. We were in NICU for just under 4 weeks.
Whilst he was in NICU he was tube fed for a while until he learnt the suck, swallow breathe motion. We also had some issues with tongue tie which we got sorted.
He can latch on, and he does take some milk. But no matter how long he seems to breastfeed for, it doesn’t satisfy him. He’s still wanting more food when we’re finished and still takes an entire bottle.
We do half expressed milk and half cow & gate formula. I do still try and breastfeed him 1-2 times a day to see if anything will change but so far, he’s still needing a complete bottle top up after his feed. X
