8 week old gulping milk/gas

Hi all, my 8 week old has never seemed to be able to latch on a bottle properly. She gulps, coughs, sputters and chokes a little during most feeds. We have noticed towards the end of the day the gas has been building and she then cries for 3+ hours until she falls asleep. She also squirms and cries a lot in her sleep. Has anyone had this experience? Perhaps seen a lactation specialist? We are pretty sure the gas build up is from the weak latch. Let me know please 😊

We burp mid feed on bottle and breast and also pace feed on bottle to stop the gulping. We haven’t had an issue with latch - assume tongue tie has been checked? Hope things improve for you! 6-8 weeks is when they get peak fussy and colicy I think so I’m sure it will x

We had the exact same issue with our LO - she was born very small so could never reach around wide teats such as mam etc so she would just constantly gulp and click during feeds and start squirming after literally a few sucks. Then we would have the issue of gassy/windy baby screaming every night (this is almost common for a 6-8 week old anyway) but she was excessive! We have since switched to Dr Browns bottles - specifically the narrow neck bottles so that her whole mouth reaches around the teat at the base so she has flared lips and no longer clicked. They are slightly spenny but they have been worth every penny!! Also as above, pace feeding and holding upright during after every feed for at least 20 mins. ā˜ŗļø

Also worth mentioning all the symptoms you’re describing suggests the teat size is too big, because the milk they’re receiving is overwhelming them so might be worth dropping a teat size if you’ve not tried that ā˜ŗļø

My LO did this and we dropped the test size down. We were using MAM
size 0 which was too much got her and moved to Phillips Advents lowest size and has a big improvement. We slowly moved up the sizes of the Philips and at 13 weeks she is now on the MAM size 0.

Contact naps

At what age do contact naps become less regular? Don’t get me wrong, I love how serene he looks and love that he feels safest with me and 75% of the time it’s actually nice to just sit down with him and enjoy the moment. However, there are some days where I just feel a little drained from the constant-ness of it and I feel like I’m trying to get things done/look after my needs in his wake windows when he’s happy to go in his chair and watch me but then feel terrible for the lack of interaction with him where he’s my sole focus and tummy time, etc.

Soo, what are we doing with our babies?

Morning everyone! Just wondering what a typical day looks like for you? How often is your baby on a play mat or in a bouncer etc?

I'm not really sure what my wake windows should look like and how long she should spend in my arms or on her play mat etc Per wake window / day.

Nursing Chairs

Hey everyone! I wonder whether I can get some people’s opinions on nursing chairs.. Are they worth it? Do you actually use them? ā˜ŗļø

5am wake ups!

My 10 month old keeps waking up at 5am and we can’t figure out why. He’s usually asleep by 7.30pm and then seems to wake up at 5am. He will then fuss for an hour and eventually falls back asleep. I know it’s not the fact he goes to sleep at 7.30am because we’ve tried later times and it’s not light in his room because we have blackout blinds. Can’t seem to figure out why it’s 5am that he wakes up??
