Cot issue

Hi!
My little boy is 6 months old and has recently gone into his own room, he doesn’t mind being in his cot and will happily get placed into it. However, he’s a very active sleeper (one of the reasons he needed to move out of his next to me) and he keeps smacking into the bars during the night.
Obviously old school cot bumpers are a no no, but is there anything I can do or use to stop him ramming himself into the sides?

I added the bumpers to be honest with u. My daughter would crawl from one end of the cribs to the other end in her sleeep and hit her head in the crib’s bar and wouldn’t stop until I come get her. I have a Nanit cam that helps me monitor her. What I did is I added them one the side she would crawl to. But I think if a baby is able to move and turn themselves from tummy to back and vice versa once their face get to the bumper they should be able to move their head to the other side if they unable to breath comfortably. (Just my opinion)

No they soon learn, it's normal. They can't do any real damage by rolling into the side. Maybe a bruise if they really go for it but that's all.

Other than being put into a sleep sack, I don’t think so. 🤷🏽‍♀️

My son is the exact same. He wears a sleepsack to stop getting his legs caught in the bars but other than that he’s just learning not to do it. Can’t bump into the bars so hard he’ll actually hurt himself. He’s nearly 9 months now and very rarely bumps into the bars (he left his next to me at 7 months)

Nah dont add anything, he will stop doing it soon and learn not to. Adding something isnt worth the risk x

Help!

My almost 4 week old will not go down for a nap / at night. She falls asleep on us no issue and then soon as we transition her she lasts about 10 mins and then she’s awake. It’s the same during daytime naps and at night. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Just venting

I’ve been feeling like a failure lately because my baby’s first birthday is coming up, and I lost my job after she was hospitalized for Covid & Flu B I’ve been trying so hard to make her birthday special, but I don’t have much help or a support system.

I’ve reached out a little for help with birthday decorations like via wishlist or anything possible , but I’ve gotten very little response. I completely understand that nobody is obligated to help me, and I’m not expecting anyone to owe me anything. I just think it’s hard when you’re trying to do everything on your own and want so badly to give your baby a special day.

I’m still going to do everything I can for her, but honestly, this has been weighing on me more than I want to admit.

Baby not wanting to take naps during day at 5 months old

Does anyone else child(ren) at 5 months old not want to take naps during the day? My son just turned 5 months old on the 9th of this month and today he's been really fussy and cranky, that no matter how or what I do to try to calm him down he just would stop! I'm a first time mom and I've done all I could think of after looking up pretty much everything on how to raise a baby/ infant. Rocking, singing to him, giving him a bath and among other ways to relax him, just didn't work. We took him for a car ride because usually that helps at night mainly. He just now went to sleep after patting his butt but I'm afraid that he isnt going to stay asleep, like he has been doing at night. Help a momma out please.

Am I wrong?

We're in a family room in a hotel atm. My boys 3.5 and 6 months old only co sleep so I put them in bed with me with space between us. My husband comes, pushed the kids ups, put a pillow down and went to sleep on the pillow in the same bed. I woke up to feed my 6 month old and see my toddler is on top of the 6 month olds arm. I said you are putting them at risk. I said I'll sleep on the bunk beds you keep an eye and feed baby if he wakes up. Then he kicks off swearing and sleeps in the bunk bed. Then said I can take them down to breakfast myself. Am I wrong?

Cry it out method research

Can someone send me reliable academic and peer reviewed links to research which shows that the cry it out method damages children’s mental health please.
While we haven’t and don’t plan to do CIO, I see so many comments from people stating things like it damages mental and quite frankly really horrible comments to parents asking questions about it without including the scientific evidence. It’s not fair to judge other parents choices.
