Book recommendations for 1 year old!

I'm attending a birthday party for a family friend's baby who is turning one. Mum's a book worm so I'm assuming she has many many books for her son.

Does anyone have any good books i could gift that aren't popular so there is less chance she already has it😅

Thanks!x

I really want some baby university books as someone in the STEM sector. And they're a bit niche so less chance your bookworm friend will have got them already 😅

I love the little people big dreams books! if you know of any people that they particularly like (the mum of course as the baby is so young!) you could see if they have a book for them as then reading that will be interesting for mum too! they’re a bit more for the reading side of things, more mum picks out and reads to baby as opposed to baby exploring them their self so also any sensory/touch and feel/pull the flap books are amazing for development and engagement at one year old so i’d recommend those! my daughter is a little bookworm and personally i’d recommend the pull flap books, or ones where things happen when you tilt book etc over the that’s not my books as she seems a lot more engaged with those - but we have the that’s not my books and they are still great too! xx

I don’t know how much a 1 year old can get into these as my guy is 6 months but I personally found them pretty funny:

Don’t Eat Eustace
Bum Fish
I Want my Hat Back (also the sequels)
Goodnight Disgusting Blob

She might not have it as it's only just been released - infact it's on pre order but the "gruffalo granny" I've ordered this for my son's 1st birthday next week.

I have some sensory books that he loves also that I've not found very common I'll send a photo. They do diffent ones

could this potentially be her teeth ?

i might be crazy but honestly i'm not sure, her gums feel hard and she has been drooling a ton lately. she also has been getting super fussy and hasn't been eating as long / will refuse the breast at first. she has been eating her hand (but not in a hunger way) and will eat my arm, i am just very unsure.

Mama stressed

Little rant but mainly looking for advice of any kind 😩
So my eldest boy is 6 and he is really struggling with his behaviour over the summer holidays he’s been so naughty and has constantly pushed buttons completely on purpose he claims he can’t control it and that his brain is bad however I can’t excuse or understand how he can do things like pour Pepsi all over his dads £1400 gaming set up because he ‘doesn’t like it’ or smash his tv out of anger coz a game wouldn’t let him play it how he wanted he’s constantly stealing things like chewing gum or snacks and then refusing to eat actual food and he’s shouting at us and telling us he hates us and we’re worst parents and he’s even gone as to far as attempting to hit his baby brother who’s 17 months old. Overall I’m at breaking point because this isn’t who he is yet it’s all he seems to be doing lately I’m heartbroken and feel defeated and I just want my boy back and to help get to bottom of this 😩😭

I just need to vent

So my daughter had a week and a half off from nursery recently (the half was due to her having a temperature and not being able to go and the week was because I had time off so we could spend quality time together).

She’s been back to nursery this week, has only been in for 2 days, and she’s already coming down with something and her temperature is starting to increase 🤬

She’s 2 years old and has been at nursery for 15 months already.

She was only ill less than 2 weeks ago.

And now she’s coming down with someone else!

I thought they were supposed to get better with not getting so ill the longer they spend at nursery? But she just keeps getting ill and it’s never ending!

We’ve both taken so much time off work. I feel like I can’t look for a new job because of constantly needing to be off with her when she’s sick and my husband can’t do it due to work commitments and lack of flexibility, I just thought this was going to get easier.

Why does she have to keep f’ing catching stuff!!

And then why are people continuously taking their sick kids into nursery?? It’s 2 f’ing days for peep sake!! How is she possibly ill already?! Such an f’ing joke!!!!!

Argh!

Have you introduced screentime?

If so how long a day?
If not how are you getting things done?😭

I was adamant I wasn't going to give screen time but man it has been the best thing someday to get chores done or change his nappy.

But I'm also reluctant for that to be my go to all the time and trying to minimise as much as possible
