Those who have babies who sleep have a totally different parenting journey

Maybe it’s because I’m jealous, maybe it’s because I’m hoping to find peace in myself but those who have babies/children who sleep well have a very different journey of motherhood/fatherhood. I’m tried, burnt out and close to a menty B

Agreed. My oldest was a horrendous sleeper (up every hour / two hours ish until he was about 2). My 7 month old has slept through since he was about 4 days old. I feel completely different this time, and not being sleep deprived has benefitted my mental and physical health so much in comparison

My son is a great sleeper and has slept through the night since 3 months old. My daughter is 11 months old and still wakes up several times a night and hates sleep and I was not prepared for how much more difficult EVERYTHING is without sleep! I am hoping and praying we continue to make progress towards sleeping through the night!

Also, a friend suggested the Taking Cara Babies sleep training class - and while I didnt actually pay for the classes I did start reading her blog and using her suggested age appropriate sleep schedules and I am seeing improvement with my youngest and her ability to sleep longer stretches! Hang in there mama!!! I hope the blog helps you like it has me!!

We sleep trained all our kids. They weren’t all natural sleepers.

My daughter woke every 40min to eat until around 14mths. But by 2.5yrs she slept through the night. Shes 3.5 now and no night wakes (unless shes sick). My son? He sleeps through the night mostly. He does wake up once for a chichi snackie but then is back to sleep until 5a and then my wife takes him but she says he goes right back in like 20min🤣. Anyway, he is way easier since he sleeps BUT he starts his day at 6:40ish and my daughter didnt start her day until 9a!

I would agree. I give the advice to “go out, go to baby groups, go to mall after and push him around in pram while he sleeps” not thinking that not all babies nap 2hrs in pram/wherever like mine does. He didn’t sleep through the night until 18m, but when he woke he had his full on the boob and nodded off, every time. There wasn’t a time he woke middle of night and stayed awake. So I’d just latch and fall asleep myself knowing he would also, I didn’t take hours rocking or bouncing. But I also kept all light low and I didn’t speak a word to him till morning, I didn’t stimulate him coz I was also half asleep lol. I just change his diaper and put him on boob in silence (if it’s night)

We've had a mix of both - mine is a good sleeper, but regressions have hit hard, and there have been entire weeks at a time when we didn't sleep at all. Doesn't help that my husband is a pushover and would give in to cosleeping or sit up with her for hours. 🙄 But I digress. During those weeks of sleepless nights, I definitely felt the difference. It's a completely different day and morning when you're sleep deprived, and I'm reminded every time she randomly decides that tonight is not a sleeping night. 😒

My firstborn was a wonderful sleeper, didn't even want comforted to sleep or anything she just preferred to be swaddled, laid down, and left alone to fall asleep. My second was the total opposite, never wanted to settle and required a solid hour or more of butt pats, back rubs, and rocking to fall asleep at all, the smallest noise would wake him up. Babies are hard no matter what but babies who don't want to sleep are absolutely more of a mental challenge 😭, I hope your little one(s) give you some much deserved rest soon!!

Definitely! My first was a great sleeper! Never cried much. Would wake in the during the night for feeds and then immediately go back to sleep.
My twins not so much… or maybe it’s just cause it was 2 of them, but I finally understood the complaints other moms had about the newborn phase the second time around.

Am I a bad mom

I let my son (4) watch videos while he’s going to sleep.
He gets put to bed at 7 and is never awake past 8.

My four month old is trying to stand

My baby just turned four months on the 20th. She hasn’t quite sat up by herself yet but every time she is in somebody’s lap or somebody’s holding her, she’s showing interest in wanting to stand up. When is a good time to get her one of those bouncing toys, I wasn’t sure if we should introduce it yet because she’s not sitting independently or not

Anxiety as a new mum

Has anyone got any advice. My newborn is 11 days old and I've been really struggling with anxiety about making sure he is OK, feeding schedules, waking through the night and a few other things. I'm seeking help but wondered if anyone can share their experiences?

Sleep Schedule and sleep positions

My baby has just turned three months and I want to start tracking her sleep during the day, does anyone use any apps that are free and they would recommend? I am not trying to sleep train her till next month but I know it will take a couple months to do so I am not worried, I just want to know she is getting the right amount of sleep now and when she is sleeping in case she has too much or too little, she slept last night from around eight ish till about eleven ISH if I remember and the half three ISH for a bottle then woke up at seven for another bottle, had a wiggle in the cot while I chilled out next to her, I have a cold and it's zap me or else I would interact with her, she got fussy around half seven I think and came for a cuddle and slept till ten ISH and then I had to go out on a important errand, which she napped in the car for about half an hour after crying all the way there which was overwhelming but I had to do it, then around two ISH we both slept till five ISH, as I said I am not well so she was in her cot and me in bed and then she asleep around half eight, I want to know this all correct for her age.
Also how does everyone elses three month old sleep position at the moment, I have a very wiggly baby so I won't use a blanket as she kicks it off and has started to grab, so she's in a sleep bag with arms because she can roll over, with great head control and now for the last few months has slept on her side even when I place her on her back then will slowly move around the cot, I always check her but seems alright, video so you see what she does

When did you give your baby their 1st bath?

I always thought you had to wait 2 weeks but chat gpt is saying you can do it whenever & even says you can bath WITH the cord still, which I thought you had to wait for? She’s currently a week old, her cord fell off on her 3rd day. Not sure when we should do it🥹
