Am I a bad mom

I let my son (4) watch videos while he’s going to sleep.
He gets put to bed at 7 and is never awake past 8.

I do the same thing my son is almost 3 and he is on his tablet rn while im cleaning plus its his quiet time since he hasn't been wanting to nap.

I wouldn’t say you are a bad parent necessarily. However, this is not a good practice at all. It’s advised for adults to be screen free at least 2 hours before going to bed. So you can imagine the kids would need longer screen free time . It interrupts the quality of their sleep etc. maybe do colouring, puzzles, read books together etc.

Unpopular opinion, but Im 34 and refuse to sleep without my TV. If my child ends up being the same way, I can’t really force her to sleep in the dark?

Personally don’t do it for my kids, but they’re only 3 and a baby. Maybe when they’re older I’ll allow in film in bed. I grew going up to bed with my sisters and picking a Video/DVD and watching a movie together. Sometimes we’d fall asleep during it, others we’d finish the film and go to sleep. I like that idea, but the problem is now the short videos, streaming services etc that is full of high stimulation content, knowing my child it wouldn’t help him wind down. But yeah, one day when he’s older, I’d love for him to be able to go up and watch a movie before bed some days, but not all🤷‍♀️

I don’t let my children, but I also don’t think you’re a bad mom.

I don't think you're a bad mum, but I would try to break the habit before it becomes a dependency. It may not be doing harm but that doesn't mean it's doing favours. Just because he's sleeping, doesn't necessarily mean that it's good sleep. We got into the habit of doing TV with milk before bath and bedtime routine because it felt like a calm activity but cut it out after a few months - we go for an evening walk instead now, she falls asleep more quickly and I feel happier because we don't watch TV every day any more! You could try something like a light projector, yoto player, Tonie box etc instead if you are looking for a change?

I don’t think this makes you a bad mom at all. Everyone chooses different things for their children. I can’t say at the moment if I would ever do this because my LO is only 5 months old and we’re not at that stage yet, but I feel like if I do let him fall asleep to a video when he’s older it will probably be Bob Ross 😆. When I can’t sleep I throw some Bob on and he soothes me to sleep every time. So relaxing and slow paced

Whatever works for you 🤷🏻‍♀️ definitely doesn’t make you a bad mom.

It’s not a decision I would make for my own kids, but that doesn’t make you a bad mom for choosing that for your child.

What works for your family may not work for others and I don’t think you’re a bad mom I swear it helps my son sometimes too

You're not a bad mum at all.

Some parents won't let their children watch videos whilst going to sleep which is okay but some will let their child which is okay too.

My son (he's 8) likes to watch the asmr videos which help him to sleep.

Think it takes a lot more than some bedtime tv to consider someone a bad mom

I don’t think you’re a bad mum, but if it was me I’d at least switch to shows like Julia Donaldson, Quentin Blake, Eric carle shows etc. The ones he’s watching at the moment are pretty stimulating x

I wouldn't say you're a bad mum, it's just not something that I'd ever get into doing, i don't watch TV in bed I think bed is quiet time to go to sleep so I've never done it

Twin mum advice

My twins are currently 11weeks (4 weeks corrected) and I’m really struggling at the moment. One twin is a lot smaller than the other so is constantly up in the night for feeds and it’s hard trying not to wake the other up so I’m very sleep deprived, especially since my husband has returned to work now. I also feel like I should be doing more with them during the day, but when it’s just me in the house or out with them I can’t feed two and entertain two at the same time without help. My parents and in laws are really helpful and will come and play with them while I shower or have an hour to myself but due to them still being small for their age and very refluxy none of them feel confident to have them for a few hours or feed without me or my husband there. I just feel like I’m drowning a bit at the moment and guilty that I should be doing more for the babies. Does anyone have any tips on how to routines they had or activities they did with their twins?

Floor Play

Do you really get down on the floor to play with your baby (not crawling yet) for more than 2 mins? It's so uncomfortable for me and also I don't know how to play with my young baby for more than 2mins at a time!?

Am I overreacting?

So I do have OCD. I was pushing the pram along the pavement the other day and noticed a used pepette of something with the toxic symbol all over it. I couldn’t be sure whether or not the pram wheels went over it so I gave them a quick wipe with a dettol wipe and put the pram back in the boot of the car like normal. Thing is I’m now spiralling over it and think everythings contaminated . After some advice on what you would do and also why on earth is it ok for people to drop these where kids may be walking etc . Appreciate this may sound strange just after some advice

Anxiety as a new mum

Has anyone got any advice. My newborn is 11 days old and I've been really struggling with anxiety about making sure he is OK, feeding schedules, waking through the night and a few other things. I'm seeking help but wondered if anyone can share their experiences?

Toilet trips

Hey guys,
My baby is 7 weeks old today. He has gone from having 3-4 dirty nappies a day to pooing every 12-24 hours just the once. When he does poo, it’s been super watery/runny but still dark mustard colour. He strains all day and night until this poo comes seeming really uncomfortable. Has anyone got any tips for this or experienced the same thing?
I have tried infacol and have now moved over to gripe water which he won’t really take to and I don’t want to force it. (Bottle fed baby)
