Any advice or tips for post C-SECTION injections?

I got my partner to do it for me as I’m a wuss 😂 but we found the best way was to pinch the skin as you put the needle in. Then slowly let the skin go and slowly push the injection in. Don’t get me wrong it still stings but this was the best way I hope that makes sense :)

Icing the area for a while first always made it easier for me, otherwise the sting is just too much 😭

I was the opposite and had them for my first but didn’t need them for my second. I can understand how daunting it seems however the injections, I think they’re to help prevent blood clots, aren’t nearly as bad as they seem. They were surprisingly almost painless. After going through countless blood tests, finger pricks and insulin injections, these are very doable and less painful in comparison . It’s just the initial reaction to having to self inject. For me, a quick injection into the thigh didn’t hurt. Don’t inject the same spot and don’t apply pressure afterwards.

I got them with my second but not my first too.

Move them around, found my thighs didn’t sting as much. Grab a big chunk of belly or thigh tightly and inject away into that, count to 10 slowly to make sure it’s all in, pull out smoothly then let go of the chunk of leg/arse/belly. They didn’t really hurt but I found I was cold after them for a minute.

My husband had to do them for me, if it was left to me to do the injections I'd not do it. My husband felt awful for having to do them but, it had to happen😅 I think that we were both relieved after the final one.

Hardest part other than the mental prep of it was doing it at the same time every day when time has no meaning 😂

I had to take them for 6 weeks 😭😭 My advice would be to not think too much about it before doing it or it makes it harder.
Like when I was going to cook dinner and it came in my mind, I stopped what I was doing and did it straight away. Otherwise I'd put it off.
Also, when you're figuring out where to inject, and you've seen a suitable area, don't go looking for other areas. Just do it there and get it over with.
It's the only thing that got me through them tbh. If i over thought it, it'd make so much more harder because of the anticipation x

I also had to get my partner to do it for me. Pinch an inch - this helps so much! For me it also hurt more if he injected the liquid really quickly so not too fast and not too slow, just a nice steady pace was best for me!
The first time he did it he was quite nervous so he only inserted the needle halfway and then had to push it in again (skin is quite tough!) but he did it when the midwife came over the day after we got home so he could have someone watch and guide him to make sure he was doing it okay. Remembering which side to do can be a little bit of a challenge towards the end and just remembering to inject straight down. Other than that counting down helped for both of us (as in only 5 left to go, halfway now! 4 left etc and then a high five on the last one 😂)
