Rhesus negative

Wow I'm really surprised they haven't mentioned it yet! Do you happen to know what the father's blood type is?

I’ve got rhesus negative blood too, it’s only really an issue if you have a bump or a fall as any internal bleeding could mix with babies blood. The anti d injection is all that I’ve ever needed and never had any complications because of it

A- here, I didn’t think it was particularly rare, but I am surprised no one told you before now! Having said that I’ve known my blood group for a long time, my sister is the same. Both her kids were negative blood groups so she didn’t have anti d, where as mine is a positive blood group which I expected as he was from a donor egg who was positive blood group as is my husband. Had anti d (not a vaccine it’s actually a blood product) a few weeks ago, if I experience any bleeding or blows to abdomen/car accident etc whilst pregnant would need another, as it mops up any antibodies your body may produce. Then you have another after giving birth.

Being rhessus negative isnt rare. If youre a negative b negative o negative etc then youre rhesus negative. They offered to test baby and if baby was positive they can give you the anti D but this is a common thing.

I am also Rhesus negative. I had my Anti-D injection at 28 weeks, and now I am 35 weeks pregnant. Everything is going great and my baby is moving wonderfully! Don't worry, that injection is exactly what protects both you and your baby. It is completely normal and you are safe

I am resus negative and they gave Me anti d when I went in2 labour

I’m B resus negative and they said they will check baby’s blood group at my 16 week appointment - 2 days from now to see if baby is positive, if they are then they will administer the anti d injection, it is more if you have any bumps to your abdomen, but they say that until you give birth it shouldn’t be a problem, doesn’t cause any harm to baby, if baby is also negative they don’t administer the injection as no need too ( in my case anyway)

yeah, two separate midwives referred to it as rare to me too! They’ve never offered to test my baby, I’ll have to wait until he’s born now which is why I was confused as to why this is the first I’m hearing of it!

I am O negative and they tested my blood at 16 weeks to confirm baby was a different blood type. If you already know the fathers blood type this is the only thing I can think why they’re giving it to you anyway as most likely the babys will be different. I think maybe they should’ve picked it up before but long as you haven’t had any bumps/injuries it should be okay. Hope all goes well xx

Ahhh yes the "rare" blood group. I went into my NCT classes feeling really special, only to be met with literally every other girl in there (except 1) being rhesus negative 😂😂😂

I have rhesus negative blood also! The only issue they say to watch out for is having any bumps/ falls this is my second pregnancy and iv been fine! Just take it easy! Xx
