Feeling isolated

I am a first time mom at 44, my daughter is 16 months. For the most part I am proud of having a healthy baby at my age. I forget how old I am and how this isn't the "norm " but today I hit me how isolating this can be..I tried going to an event for moms to make friends out with their babies...there were maybe 30 or so women...and they were all in their 20s!!! I am sitting there sweating and having hot flashes and of course no one there can relate. I felt like the kid in high school not part of the clique... super out of place. It hadn't even crossed my mind I would be the only middle aged mom, i guess it should have. It was the first time I felt super self conscious and almost embarrassed doing motherhood at my age. I got in my car after and cried. I was so excited for opportunity to make mom friends, i really don't have any and I just felt like a fool.

I think going to those events without knowing anyone in general is already awkward and uncomfortable enough. I’m normally a very quiet and shy person where I never talked to anyone. But now, I’ve forced myself to put myself out there and actually initiate conversations. It doesn’t always work out but sometimes it does. For example, I purposely made conversations with other moms at Gymboree and only one actually reciprocated. She is in her really early 20’s and even 2 years later, we are friends and hang with the kids every other week.
I’ve made a few friends on this app of different ages and we talk and see each other frequently. I had to completely go against who I was lol but that was the only way I could make friends. And I had to be okay with rejection and ghosting.

Btw, I’m 51 with a 3 year old and a 4 month old ( IVF and donor eggs). I actually met someone here who also used donor eggs and we hang out too!

I’ve felt like this too and been in the same situations. But there is an older mum tribe out there waiting for you, and/or other mums who’d want to be in your tribe irrespective of age. Keep holding your head high mama, your body has done an amazing thing xx

Do you people have sex?

It’s been one year… I don’t even know how it goes anymore. My husband’s not trying. We don’t have time alone ever.

Are we doomed?

Sex

Completely lost my sex drive since becoming a mum. Last year we had sex once and I got pregnant 🤣.
We have 2 under 2 now.
We last had sex around 6 months ago - which induced labour 😃
I feel awful but I just never have the capacity for it, never crave it. Don't think it helps that I'm struggling with my body image.
My husband tells me constantly how beautiful I am & looks at me the same as he always has.
When we do it, its mindblowing & i think "why dont we do this more." But then I guess, life gets in the way.
I feel bad on my husband as we don't have any sexual contact but I almost feel sick at the thought of it.
It's not a reflection on him because hes fooooinnneeeee 😍 and i love him with my whole heart.

It's me thats the problem. I'm going to the gym & eating well to try lose weight. But what can I do to get it back within myself?

No village

How do mums do it without a village? I'm currently 25weeks pregnant with a 25month old and live in an area where I have zero friends or family around me. Yes my husband helps but he's got 2 jobs so super busy and I'm too tired to be looking after a toddler all day everyday whilst being pregnant. I ask for help from my mum but she doesn't want to sacrifice her holidays for me or spend time/money to come up to me. I'm just sick of it. I feel so alone. I feel so hurt. I wish someone would just come help me.

Serious friendships only..

Heyyy ladies! 💕 I’m looking for genuine friendships where the conversation just flows! I love a good laugh, random check-ins, deep conversations, and talking about everything and nothing. 😂
I’m easy to talk to, but I need that energy reciprocated! Not looking to carry every conversation or feel like I’m interviewing you lol. I want friendships where we can actually get to know each other, encourage one another, and build a real connection.
If you’re down for good conversation, genuine vibes, and a friendship that goes beyond “hey girl,” let’s connect! 🫶🏽
