School Run and Newborn

Any tips for doing the school run with a newborn who is EBF? My husband is going back to work on Monday and has been a huge help, getting our eldest sorted while I change and feed our 5 week old. But how do I manage when he's back at work? He'll have left the house before we need to wake up so won't be able to help at all. Thank you!!

I guess it will just be timing your last feed? Making sure the kids are ready before the feed?

I will be the same for nursery/playgroup with a 3yo and 2yo when my husband goes back to work (works away)

I think an earlier alarm may be the answer to begin with šŸ™ˆ

Will you be driving to the school? How far is it? Another option could be lumping everyone in the car early, getting there and feeding in the car before taking the kids šŸ¤”

May be more trial and error šŸ˜…šŸ«£

I have an earlier alarm and I wake, wash and then feed our 2 week old and I do my face and hair while he feeds. He goes back to sleep while I get my eldest dressed and ready (I sling the baby so he stays asleep).
I then do breakfast and feed the baby again while the eldest is eating.
We then all jump in the car for school drop off.
Its not feeding on demand as such but it gets us all out the door and to school x

My first day doing it alone is tomorrow 😩 I'll be honest I'm just going to be winging it and hoping it all works out šŸ˜‚ I've as much as I can prepared tonight and will just make sure I get my 4 year old ready with plenty of time to spare just in case I need to feed baby etc

Depending on what you do for breakfast, get hubby to prep/do breakfast before he goes. As for getting dressed if you like to do hair/makeup every day then thats something you need to get up a bit earlier to do, but for the kids, get your eldest to get dressed by themselves as much as possible whilst you get baby ready, make it a game, "who can get their top on first?" Etc or get eldest dressed and have them help with baby. Feed baby before you leave/eat your breakfast then you should be golden!

I get up between 6-6:30 and wake eldest up at 6:45 (6yr old) he gets up, then my middle (2yr old) who i get dressed, sort her hair & teeth etc then my newborn. We do drive to school whilst im still recovering but normally we walk and baby sleeps on the journey so will wake for a feed when i get home xxx

I change my little ones nappy when my first alarm goes off and honestly I don't bother getting him dressed unless his nappy has leaked he just stays in his sleepsuitšŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
I try to feed bab whilst my eldest eats breakfast, she's 4 so she takes a good 20 minutes per toast slice🫠 then pop him in the pram and usually (fingers crossed) he sleeps on the walk to school, done this now the past week and only had one day he cried on the walkšŸ¤ž

Honestly how smoothly it goes depends more on my eldest using her listening earsšŸ˜… i find the baby isn't the hard part so far

Do you give dinner after nursery tea?

I’m not originally from the UK so just curious! If your little one has tea at nursery, do you still give them dinner at home? I heard most British parents don’t ... is that true?

Roommates

My bestie has been living with my husband and I for about 5-6 years now. She was in a position where she needed help and we were able to do that for her. (I want to preface this by saying we do a lot for her.) The past 5ish years it’s been great having her. She pays her rent on time and our kids love her. She is the basement auntie. Things have unfortunately taken a turn her personal life has taken quite a few hits the past few months and we’re being as understanding as we can. We’ve been taking late not in full rent (we don’t charge her for utilities or wifi , I’ve been taking her to and from work grocery shopping, just anything she needs really. But she’s picking fights and doing shitty things now. The way she’s treating us and our things is not okay.
I’ve tried talking to her about this, but if I bring up literally ANYTHING it’s throwing it back in her face. She has this idc attitude I told her if she was going to continue being shitty to me as I’m literally taking her to work she can get out and walk. Her response to that was ā€œI’ll quit my job right now. I told her to find a new place to live. She just has a shitty attitude. I don’t want that around my kids.

She yells then cries then disappears to her family’s house for weeks at a time. I thought we were somewhat good after this last time she went to her families house but this morning I wake up to my clean dried clothes on the ground of the laundry room and my clothes that were next to go into the dryer are just wet sitting on top of the dryer. I know it’s not a huge thing but it feels disrespectful asf. Especially after having a conversation with her about her attitude and the things she does.

What should I do. I love her and I want her to do well in life. I really don’t want our friendship to go out the window but girlllll. Should we start treating her as just a roommate? Start charging her for utilities and rent in full at the 1st of each month?

I also want to add we don’t need her as a roommate we can make rent and bills just fine, our rent would actually be cheaper without her here. We’re literally only doing this because she needs us to.

How/what are we eating with a newborn ??

It got to 8pm and all I had eaten all day was 2 hard boiled eggs! I’m breastfeeding so I know we need to also eat and drink to help our supply😩

How & what are we eating, with a baby who refuses to be put down ??
I need ideas for things that require little-no prep/cooking, not messy & can eat with 1 hand. But also not too unhealthy, my sisters advised me to not do what she did (just eat biscuits all day, she gained 0 weight in pregnancy but piled it on afterwards because of the food situation).

I feel so jealous of my partner sometimes, having a lunch break at workšŸ˜ž
+ eat a dinner that’s still hot & not having to breastfeed in the other arm.

I need to find a way around this what’s your hacksšŸ˜…

Toothpaste

I just bought my 2 year old Tom’s toothpaste with fluoride in it. Is it ok if I use it and he doesn’t know how to spit yet? I barely used for the first time today. Also does anyone know what that spray is called that you use when baby falls asleep and can’t brush their teeth in the night

Partners

Anyone else struggling with being told they ā€˜don’t do enough’ by their partner despite having next to no energy and still doing all of the house jobs that they did before? 😐
