Did anyone who rocked their baby/co slept etc (didn’t sleep train) have a baby/child who ended up sleeping independently all night?

Interested to know if you don’t actually need to sleep train to eventually get a child that sleeps 😂 my 8 month old gets held to sleep and placed in cot but he’s up a lot in the night until eventually he settles in our bed around 4;30am. I’m happy to do this with the hopes that one night he’ll just sleep through or am I wishful thinking 😂

We managed to do ‘independent’ put downs at 10 months then he would fall asleep with us in the room / not needing to be held from 14 months - we did have to do one night of sleep training as he would wake up on the dot every 3 hours and cry but after that it’s been quite consistent (few developmental bumps but otherwise fine). If we’d had the time aka I wasn’t back at work I think we would’ve got there eventually independently x

My little boy is 14 months old. He lays on me until he’s asleep.. I used to rock him, now he just wants to be held 🥹then I transfer him but he sleeps all night! And has done for a while now x

We haven’t sleep trained but baby can fall asleep somewhat independently - we are in the room but falls asleep in cot without us. However, occasionally baby falls asleep feeding/being held. Both ways baby only wakes once, two times max.

I would question whether it is a scheduling problem rather than how they are falling asleep. How much sleep are you expecting (naps and night sleep) 🥰

Yep, my son is nearly 2 and often sleeps in his own room all night. Sometimes he wakes, and goes back to sleep if I just speak to him on the monitor. Sometimes he wants a cuddle about 4am so I bring him to bed with me for the last couple of hours.

I breastfed until 15 months. Co slept whenever he wanted it (he often did the first 3/4 hours in his cot then took him in with me).

It's normal for children to wake overnight until 3/4years, so I consider this a win!

Yes! Our boy slept exclusively on our chests both day and night sleep (refused to be put down, including co sleeping) until he was 8 months then he started accepting Co sleeping and at 10.5 months something just clicked and he finally started accepting transfers and sleeping for longer than 1.5 hour stretches. He’s 11.5 months now and does 7 hour stretches on his own in his floor bed in his own room. We are so pleased we trusted our gut and leaned into his needs. It feels like there’s no end in sight while you’re in it and it almost feels like it’s not sustainable any more until it’s not and something shifts, and when it does you’ll be so happy you responded to your instincts and your babies needs. They are on their own timelines and until they are developmentally ready we can only meet them where they are at an provide the comfort and sleep support they need. You’ve got this!!

Oh this makes me sooo happy to hear thank you all 🥹❤️

Yes mine needed a lot of support (particularly for daytime naps, she contacted napped exclusively for the first year, and never really napped in a cot). Fed to sleep for a long time then held to sleep. I now at just over 2.5 read her a story, say goodnight and shut the door and she sleeps through! If you told me that at 8 months I'd never have believed it. She did it all in her own eventually, no sleep training whatsoever.
Has it always been this way for you? 8 months is notoriously awful for sleep. It does get better. Also falling asleep with support does not automatically mean they won't sleep through.

We always rocked my almost 2 year old to sleep until she started randomly asking to go in her bed. Now we cuddle her to sleep instead. It can take a while for her to go to sleep but once she’s asleep she rarely wakes up. She’s generally slept through since about 9/10 months old without us doing anything different. She’s been in a toddler bed for the last 6 months and doesn’t even get out of bed if she wakes up before we go into her in the morning, she just sits quietly and waits for us.

In law anxiety

I’m a FTM and since my LO was born (he’s 10 weeks currently) my MIL has insisted that she wants to spend the night with him, and keeps saying ‘you can leave him with me, just give me some bottles’. I’m no longer expressing and only direct BF and I have also told her that I am not comfortable yet with my baby spending the night away from me. I have also told her I am no longer expressing so that wouldn’t be an option anyway. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around why she would assume I would be comfortable being away from my baby so soon. Its giving me anxiety that if and when I decide to wean my baby that she will expect me to be okay with this and I still don’t think i’ll be comfortable with this in the future. Has anyone else experienced this?

Working Mums - Help!

I work 3 days a week, in which my daughter goes to nursery. My partner leaves for work at 5am, so the whole process of getting up, ready and out the house is all on me. I only have a 15 month old but i’m struggling so much to be able to get myself ready and keep her distracted. How are we all managing this?

She’s into everything and in that stage where I can’t take my eyes off her, which makes it even impossible to brush my teeth.

She’s not predictable with her wakes, especially at the min as we’re going through an awful sleep regression, some days she wakes at 4am others 6am so trying to get up and ready before her isn’t really possible.

I don’t allow a lot of screen time and because of this she doesn’t really sit in front of the tv as i’ve tried this also.

Any help appreciated 😅

Burping

I am struggling to burp my LO after breastfeeding and as soon as I put him down to sleep he will start to twist and cry but whatever I do I just can’t get it up. Is there anything else I could try to help get him to burp?

Gradually increasing wake windows throughout the day

I know it’s typically advised that the first wake window of the day is the shortest and the last one before bedtime be the longest but it seems it’s the opposite for my LO?
Shes 4 months and no matter when I start trying to wind her down for her naps she always falls asleep at the 2 hour mark (almost always on the dot). Her last ww before bedtime is then 1.5 hours most of the time. But then she’s waking up every 2 hours so could she be overtired?

Is this normal? Is there anything I should be doing differently?
