Working Mums - Help!

I work 3 days a week, in which my daughter goes to nursery. My partner leaves for work at 5am, so the whole process of getting up, ready and out the house is all on me. I only have a 15 month old but i’m struggling so much to be able to get myself ready and keep her distracted. How are we all managing this?

She’s into everything and in that stage where I can’t take my eyes off her, which makes it even impossible to brush my teeth.

She’s not predictable with her wakes, especially at the min as we’re going through an awful sleep regression, some days she wakes at 4am others 6am so trying to get up and ready before her isn’t really possible.

I don’t allow a lot of screen time and because of this she doesn’t really sit in front of the tv as i’ve tried this also.

Any help appreciated 😅

Have you tried a wake up clock? Even when our daughter wakes up a bit early she stays in her room until it changes colour. Granted she's 3.5 now but she's always had it and mostly obeyed it and we've reinforced when she doesn't. Is yours in a cot? Or open bed? If cot I'd honestly drop a couple of toys in there and build up how long she'll play in there on her own. If open bed a bit more tricky but I'd consider a play pen or similar just so you've got a space where you know she's contained and safe but you have a few minutes to do what you need to do. If she's not used to independent play it may take a bit of getting used to but she'll get there in the end, just be consistent.

Maybe im brutal but i do get ready before my son (21months) wakes up, and if hes already awake and crying i just have to leave him in his cot to cry for a bit, id rather that so i know he is contained and safe rather than try to get ready while he is roaming about and he doesnt have my full attention. I pop in to reassure him that mummy wont be long etc. I pack his lunch, my lunch and his nursery bag up the night before so thats already done. After i have got ready then i take him down for breakfast, get him changed then we both go and do our teeth together. Its a 1hr turnaround from me getting up to us being out the door.

We’re going through the same 😭😭 luckily she loves playing with my makeup (more like destroying it) so I just sit her on my lap whilst I get ready and embrace the chaos 🫠 also I kind of baby proofed the room since she loves to explore and open all drawers, take things out etc, so I kinda just let her make a mess of everything so I can get myself ready x

In law anxiety

I’m a FTM and since my LO was born (he’s 10 weeks currently) my MIL has insisted that she wants to spend the night with him, and keeps saying ‘you can leave him with me, just give me some bottles’. I’m no longer expressing and only direct BF and I have also told her that I am not comfortable yet with my baby spending the night away from me. I have also told her I am no longer expressing so that wouldn’t be an option anyway. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around why she would assume I would be comfortable being away from my baby so soon. Its giving me anxiety that if and when I decide to wean my baby that she will expect me to be okay with this and I still don’t think i’ll be comfortable with this in the future. Has anyone else experienced this?

Collecting colostrum

I’m 37 weeks and have been advised by the midwife to collect colostrum if I can - I’m only managing to collect a few droplets if that, is there anything I can do to help produce more?

Also can I express at night leave in the fridge then express throughout the next day (not going over 24 hours) then freeze safely?

Thanks in advance!

Colostrum

Ive been trying hand expression and its just not been working for me so when I saw my midwife consultant last time I asked about using a hand held pump to harvest and she cleared me and said I could. So I have done this tonight and for first time this is how much I got for both which im happy with! Although it seemed to not be tight on one and it leaked all down my boob😭

Can someone please tell me why its this colour? Is it due to it being the first proper collection ive done?
Thank you xx

High chair recommendations

What highchair would you recommend? I don’t want to do ikea as don’t want to buy the extra parts. I want it to be easy wipe clean. My baby is 5 months old

Let’s talk dummy’s✨

I’d love to know people’s opinions on dummy’s, me personally I do not have a “crying” baby, she’ll cry if I miss her cues but that’s very rare as I know her all too well!! I think it’s each to their own, your going to mother your child the way you want to, and I respect that. But I do think dummy’s are a form of lazy parenting. Your baby doesn’t cry for no reason… what’s everyone’s opinions?
