Two year-old been bitten twice in 1.5 weeks at nursery

I’m trying not to under-react or overreact so would appreciate some thoughts!

We recently moved to a new nursery (old one was amazing but a little bit too far for us).

Our two year-old has settled in well into his new room, but last week he came home with a bite on his arm. The nursery staff didn’t mention it so we dropped them a note to let them know that it had happened so they could keep a closer eye. They were generally apologetic.

Today, there was an incident report raised because a child had bitten my son‘s arm. On the one hand, I’m pleased that someone noticed it this time and took action (cleaned my son’s hand and used an antiseptic wipe; put the other child in “ reflection” space). On the other hand, I am a bit worried that this has happened twice in such a short period of time.

unfortunately bites / scratches etc are so common in nursery settings and very hard to prevent as a nursery practitioner. the thing i’d be concerned about is the fact it went unnoticed as opposed to the bite itself. nursery ratios are way to big in my opinion (having worked in them) and sometimes it is impossible to get there in time to stop a bite as they only take a second! this sounds like an unfortunate circumstance where it happens to have happened in a short space of time. however, this wouldn’t raise an alarm bells for me just yet(other than the initial no report! but you said you bright it up and they were genuinely apologetic, i would personally let it go just once only!). but if it happens again in a short amount of time from now, then i would be asking to have a sit down with them and discuss their policies and how they try to avoid these situations as a bite a week is very frequently if it’s ongoing xx

I think if it happens again you can ask questions to the toddler room’s manager about what plans will be in place to protect your child and others from being bit. Will they have a meeting with the biter’s parents to discuss a plan to stop the bite?
You can also request in the incident report to include details about how the bite happened (eg. Was it involve fighting over a toy?)

Is it ok to let a newborn (2weeks) sleep if already past birth weight or wake to feed ?

No hate for having a sleepy baby please my first was an awful sleeper so I know how triggering these posts can be 😂… but

My 2 week old slept for almost 6hours last night and we woke him even though he seemed pretty tired and would have slept longer. He’s been a sleepy baby since birth but feeds a lot throughout the day and has surpassed his birth weight but my husband woke me last night to say we need to wake the baby to feed. I said I’d get up and pump and let the baby sleep but he said we shouldn’t let him go over 6 hours without a feed….

Should we wake him? Thoughts below please :)

Ive lost my patience

I am only 12 weeks but I fell like ive lost my patience with my 15 month old, all day long im just constantly telling her off for hitting the tv, climbing on the back of the sofa to get to the window, throwing things at the cat and laughing. Im not enjoying being with her and that sounds horrible 😢

Im not enjoying my pregnancy in the first place and feeling exhausted everyday aswel cause my daughter is sleeping in our bed every night as she cries the moment i get near her cot 😢

Im just feeling lost

Help…Normal tantrum or something more?

My daughter is having the worst meltdowns recently. I’m talking to the point where people are starting to stop outside my house and looking in with concern. The anxiety and humiliation leaving the house sometimes is exhausting. Kicking and screaming at the top of her voice in public and having everyone in the street looking at me, is a different kind of embarrassment and guilt. I’ve had a few conversations recently with various people about seeing someone professional about mt daughter’s behaviour. She’s also started using noises and moans to gesture what she wants, coming from an incredibly smart 3 year old who has been speaking full sentences since she was two. We have regressed in verbal communication, and the meltdowns are getting so horrifically bad. She also tugs at her clothes when distressed or pulls on her fingers. There is absolutely ZERO reasoning with her when she is like this, it’s just constant screaming. I’m a first time mum and just at a complete loss.

Breast feeding

I’m expecting in a few months time and want to breast feed (breast and bottle feed). What bottles do you recommend? I formula fed my first daughter and used Dr brown bottles (hated Tommee Tippee and MAM due to tongue tie issues). Is Philips Avent good or Lansinoh? Thank you ☺️
