Advice on how to get my little one to sleep in the cot

Hi, mum to a 6 month old here. My little one used to sleep in the cot and wake up a few times. Since his 4 month sleep regression, we have been co-sleeping and he sleeps in bed with us. I’m worried about safe sleeping and would prefer he sleeps in the cot, however he cries as soon as I put him in the cot.

Any advice on how I can train my baby to sleep in the cot?

To start with I would rock baby so there almost asleep and then put in cot and then basically work backwards until baby is ok to be put in cot awake. I did this with my first. Took consistency but it worked!

The main thing is consistency. Pick a method and stick to it. You’ll probably have 3-4 hard nights and then it should get easier
I used Ferber with my son at around 6 months to get him to sleep in his cot. It was really hard but the first night was the worst and the second was bad but a bit better and the third was a little better again and after that he was able to sleep in his cot.

Spend some time in and around the cot, so he knows it’s a safe space. Some familiar smells and items nearby might also help. And as someone else said, consistency. Mine used to cry for 20-30 mins when going in (I’d always stay with him but didn’t pick up, pick up put down never worked for us) but eventually he’d understand he could move around, get comfy, and eventually drift off. I only ever said “it’s bedtime” when settling, bum pats where needed etc, but yeah tried to keep him in that space x

I could have written this exact post!! I have no advice, as we are weaning I have given porridge a few hours ago, and gone back to using a white noise machine, a rocket, a hot water bottle with warm water prior in the bed and a red light, using everything we have - wish me luck 🤣🤣

How long did your breastfed baby take to get back to birth weight?

I have just had my 5 day appointment and my baby has dropped 9%. I've been booked for a reweigh on Monday and told if she's lost more we will be sent to hospital. I said that's fine but I will refuse any feeding plan as I was put on one last time ( triple feeding) and it made my daughter projectile vomit and my mh plummet. She then asked if I had through about pumping and I said no I won't be pumping 5 days PP and 1 day after my milk has come in. Honestly the whole appointment has left me so angry at the pressure they put on us to get back to birth weight in 10 days. My partner also said she was weighed wearing a hat and blanket ( I had a c section so couldjt se)

Colostrum

How much colostrum should I bring with me to the hospital? I’ve got about 20ml but don’t want to take all of the syringes with me as I know I won’t use them all. Thank you 😊

A constant loop

Has anyone else felt like the days are flying by? By the time I get my son up, dressed and first bottle. He’s back down for a nap and everything repeats itself with a bit of play time during wake windows.

I feel like I’m constantly counting down each nap and bottle then before I know it, it’s time for bed again.

Mam bottles

Does anyone else have issues with the white rubber part of bottle not fitting properly after washing then leaking from the holes at bottom?
