7 month old not eating much. Pushing food mostly

Anyone else in the eame boat?? We are offering food daily, still on one offering a day. Probably has 2 tea spoons if that

We are having the same issues

Me too. I've tried mashed fruits and yoghurt, but it doesn't seem to suit her taste yet. She refused to eat, making yucky gestures. However, she appears to like lentil and mushroom soup. Other than that just my tits😅

Yes my baby girl is like this too.

Very normal. Food isn’t something they massively understand or always want - 2 teaspoons is enough to fill a baby’s tummy x

Mine likes to try stuff but doesn't eat a lot, I now always go by the saying 'food under one is just for fun' 😅

At this age they’re just learning the skills for how to eat, but their tummies are tiny - the size of their fist, and their main nutrition remains milk until 1+. So don’t stress about it at all - whatever they take in is great and just think of it as practice. Try offering at different times of day and give them time to explore - show them how by doing it with them as well. It’s fun if you don’t worry so much about the mess 😅 also the face of them seemingly not liking something isn’t necessarily that - they have a very strong gag reflex to overcome. You’ve got this mama đŸ’Ș

Same here
Midwife said that’s okay it all about tastes for now
Said we should increase to 2 by 8 months though

I think 2 teaspoons at 7 months is still quite normal. My first was like this and he eats fine as a 2.5 year old. My almost 7 month old is still on one offering a day and we’re just taking it slowly. Still on one singular food and he only has around 2 tablespoons of it. You see some posts on social media of 7 month olds eating lots but I think that’s more the exception . Their stomachs are only about the size of their fist

Avatar

Yes my little girl is the same! My first daughter was on a meal a day by now so I wasn’t used to this - but like everyone else says it’s completely normal. All babies are so different!

Avatar

I feel so much better and more reassured 😅. My Insta feed is full of 7 month olds eating lots and multiple times a day and I'm just like.. 'uhh, what's going on here?'.

My boy does a lot of “experimenting with gravity” and we’re lucky if it goes to his mouth at all

Avatar

My boy is also like this. It’s stressed me out a lot as my first was eating a whole bowl of weetabix by his 2nd week of weaning đŸ„Č he was a massive eater! I keep reminding myself that food is for exploring at the moment, and I’m letting him take things at his own pace. My boy is also only having about 1-3 spoons (very small spoons), keeps his mouth shut, doesn’t seem interested at all, etc. We’ll all get there! x

Milk is still source of their food main one this is for them to practise for when food becomes their main source of nutrients after 12months old and they wean off milk.

Avatar

This is my almost 7mo too. Turns face away. Doesn't play with it at all so blw is not happening. For those that say this is normal, when did it change for you? When did your LO start eating

Would this put you off?

My daughter started preschool 2 weeks ago. When I picked her up one day last week her key worker said she hadn’t ate her lunch and asked how her eating was at home. Today when I picked her up she said she hadn’t ate her lunch again and said if she continues to not eat she’ll have to just do mornings. My issue is she went on to say she’s SO small so she can’t go without eating (with such an attitude) and just basically started making digs about her. I looked in her lunch box once we’d left and she’d eaten a cheese sandwich, sausage roll, babybel, yoghurt, strawberries and blueberries. All she had left was crisps and a belvita bar. They also get 2 snacks from preschool so I feel like that’s more than enough for a 2 year old. I don’t understand why she would say she’d eaten nothing and make such a big deal when she ate majority of it. She then carried on making digs about her saying she’s stubborn (what 2 year old isn’t) and they have to tell her no a lot. I say making digs again because she wasn’t just telling me she had an attitude and was basically just complaining about her. It’s left a really bad taste in my mouth and when I asked my toddler if she had a good day she said no (she always comes out happy saying she’s had a good day) and when I asked her why she said my teacher

Activity ideas for 1yo and 3yr olds

I'm struggling. I take my boys outside every single day but they're still so full of energy. They don't stay very busy inside and I can't get much done. What are some activities or toys that keep your kids busy around these ages? We read books daily and they like to pretend to "clean" lately but im looking for other ideas please!

Reward charts?

I have a 2yo toddler and I’m thinking about getting him a reward chart. I’ve done a bit of reading and it looks like there are split opinions on whether they are good or bad for development. I’d welcome any advice people have their own experience or research ♄
